All in one casual hotel

We spent 2 nights here arriving by train and a short taxi ride from the train station. The Taxi only accepted cash which I did not have. I expected the driver would receive payment by credit card. So, my first encounter with the receptionist was to charge the fare to our room and provide currency for the driver. The receptionist telephoned the manager whom did not accept this arrangement. However, Antonio the receptionist went above and beyond in service by giving me 5 euros for tip and fair of his own money. I was so impressed by the gesture of this staff but not the management. I repaid Antonio with in minutes of finding an ATM machine and gave him double the amount he lended me. Another impressionable staff was Nelson whom treated us with exquisite service at the bar and at dinner. He deserved and received a direct tip that he wouldn’t have received if given through management. Management might want to take note of these performers as quality staff that reflects on the hotel service in a positive way. For breakfast the staff was indifferent and unenthusiastic. The higher end rooms here are large enough with sparse decor and furniture. The floor is exposed grey concrete with no rug or tile coverings. It looks like it is still unfinished construction when contrasted with the pleasant marble bathroom walls. Good environment control with proper AC, fan, heat function. Bright room with large windows and window coverings that has an option for blocking the strong sun. The facility has both inside and outside small pools with recliners. The restaurant and bar is suitable for wine, cocktails, and reasonably valued food options. The location is walking distance to main tourist attractions in this small town.

Excellent overnight stay

A perfect hotel for our overnight stay in Evera. The common areas and our room were spotlessly clean, very quiet and comfortable. The bed was excellent. The breakfast on the patio was outstanding. Special regards to the manager Carlos who gave us restaurant recommendations and an overview of sites in the city. He even contacted our taxi to return for a bag we had left at the hotel. We would definitely stay at this hotel again when we visit Evora, hopefully for two nights next time.

Misses the Mark

The good... an interesting building and a credible but expensive dinner... Divinuis. Now the bad. At check-in I am told that the only openings for breakfast are at 9:30 AM and 10 AM. Breakfast begins at 7:30 AM. Reception tells me they sent information on reserving breakfast with the "confirmation letter". However, I used Booking.com... better rate... and they never sent anything. After making me quite upset with no resolution I go to my room.... an expensive suite. . They then call and tell me "management" approved my having breakfast at 7:30 AM. Fast forward to breakfast... no one is checking what times are reserved and after an initial rush... by 8:15 AM... the restaurant is close to empty. The property has made me unhappy for no reason. The room. Adequate but... the Nespresso machine has a sign... two capsule per day are complimentary but after that 2 Euros per capsule. Are they kidding... at a rate of 340 Euros per night. Also, no kettle, no coffee cups... just espresso cups... no milk... powdered or wet. Nothing else... no even a piece of fruit... an amenity that high end properties usually provide. Dinner. Despite having an email confirmation. They do not have a reservation. No problem. I am seated. Breakfast. Less than average. A "hot" buffet with your standard lukewarm offerings. No cooked-to-order menu. No juices on the buffet. I am not offered juice but when requested orange juice is provided. Selection of fruits, meats, and cheeses, breads, pastries... average... not five star. Not recommended.

First of all the hotel is very big! Massive amount of people on the sundeck and in the breakfast area. You see the struggle to maintain the hotel everywhere due to its size. But still price quality is good! Also the view around from the hotelnis beautiful. Casino is fun also! Service is also good in general.

Superb location next to the beach and surrounded by great little restaurants. Excellent accommodation and decent food at breakfast. Helpful staff made this stress free and so relaxing. Even though the hotel was full it didn't feel like it. Great that there is a pool on the roof which we used when it was too cool to swim in the sea.

Delightful stay in a beautiful setting

Reviewed By 683matthewj

The hotel is located in the old city center next to a 2000 year old Roman temple. The former convent is abeautiful building that has been converted into a very nice hotel. The rooms are quite small but certainly comfortable - ours had a beautiful view. The long corridors and open spaces make for a very interesting hotel. The entrance is grand with extremely gracious staff who are quite friendly and helpful. The swimming pool in the center is large, chilly with surrounding deck chairs - great for a leisurely afternoon. We ate dinner in the hotel. The chef served as our waiter as well and did a remarkable job serving us a leisurely dinner, commenting on the food - which was excellent. Breakfast (included in the rate) was excellent with a variety of pastries, cheeses and other savory items- not to be missed With the hotel's central location it was very easy to explore the old town. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Rated this a 5 because the whole experience at this hotel was wonderful. They have underground parking. The counter agents are really friendly and helpful. The rooms are minimalist, nice and clean and nicely decorated. There is a safe in the room. No real closet. But there.is a desk, lots of plugs and for those of you travelling from Canada. They have a universal plug in the bathroom which is convenient. The TV is small but who needs a tv when travelling. It is so close to everything. Shower pressure was awesome. Really great vibe here. Really enjoyed it.

Nice hotel, uncool reservation experience

Reviewed By Alwaystravelling3

We spent two nights at this hotel and quite enjoyed it. The rooms was spacious, with a great view of one of the pools. The hotel has two pool areas, even though when we stayed, the outdoor pools were closed. This was a pity, as the temperatures were well above 20 degrees and it would have been wonderful to be able to sunbathe and swim. The hotel has an indoor pool and spa but we did not venture there as the hotel was quite busy with families and due to Covid we thought it might be wise to stay away from that. The breakfast buffet is varied, the staff friendly. We had dinner one night and the food was fine, even though we recommend the 15 minute drive into Ponte de Sor where there are many fantastic and affordable restaurants. The location of the hotel is great if you want to go to the lake. The only thing really worth criticizing is the fact that we initially booked only one night, as we wanted to make sure we liked the place before extending our stay. As we liked it and the weather was inviting, we went to reception and asked to stay a second night. We were told the hotel was fully booked, so no. We then went online, found a room on a booking website for almost the same price we had paid for our first night and booked it. We went back to the reception and told them we had booked a second night, could we please stay in the same room. We were told that we would have to move rooms, as it was a different category of room. Fortunately the room was ready and we moved straight away. It was closer to reception and had a view to another pool, and had an espresso machine. Otherwise it was exactly the same. So it makes you wonder whether they have their act together. They would rather lose a guest than try and accommodate them for a second night? I don’t understand the attitude. In the end it worked out ok, though.

I had such a great break for a couple of days to Evidencia Belverde, the spa treatment was exceptional my first day, I was able to get into my room early so was able to rest a bit after my journey. The staff were very helpful and made sure my stay was comfortable. I spent the day out on the Balinese sun beds outside reading a book the next day, which was amazing. The breakfast buffet was brilliant and when it's sunny it's lovely to sit outside on the terrace. I ate in the restaurant in the evening and that was good too. All in all, great hotel, very good rates and well trained staff that make sure your stay is comfortable.

My wife and I are back from a week stay in the Sesimbra Hotel & Spa. We were both very satisfied with our stay. The hotel is spotless . The staff throughout the hotel are very nice and helpful. The Pool area is lovely with lots of sunbeds. The room was very spacious with a good size bathroom and a good shower which were always cleaned to perfection . The balcony is also a good size with a stunning view but the sun did not quite shine on ours but it was lovely to sit out at anytime such was the great weather. We were on the tenth floor. There was a good choice at breakfast like breads, juices, cereals, fruit, pastries and hot food ( we would have liked to see some changes to the hot food during the week though). The location was great and close to the town center , restaurants, bars, cafe,s bus station. I would highly recommend the Sesimbra Hotel and Spa.
