I will be hiking on the Rota Vicentina in October and wanted to book a room at the hostel for one night. I had already stayed there twice in the last few years. The double room cost around 70 euros each time. This time, the same room was supposed to cost between 810,00 and 999.99 euros on different websites. Somehow this seemed too expensive, so I wrote to the organisation via their facebook page. There they told me to send an email to Destination Hostels. I did this three times and every time received the message: "Mail delivery failed: returning message to sender". I then wrote to Destination Hostels again via Messenger and got no reply. I understand that in times of Covid-19, accommodation companies work with greatly reduced staff, but here there doesn't seem to be the slightest interest in overnight guests! Since there is limited accommodation near Arrifana Beach, I will probably order a taxi there now and go straight to the next starting point of the Rota Vicentina.

Bad experience

Reviewed By Pedromau

Don't be fooled by its looks. It was a very bad experience. The room was full of moisture and humidity, bugs, the curtain was broke and didn't even covered all the window, so the light wasn't blocked at all. There was also a fan in the bathroom that didn't turn off, even with all the lights off, so if you need silence to sleep... Bad news. The bed sheets had stains and you could feel the humidity in the pillows. We paid for 3 nights in advance, and when we complained about the room, and they said that there wasn't any other one available, we asked immediately to cancel the other 2 nights and asked for a refund. The owner never showed any interest on the problem and took us 4 phone calls (with a police warning) to get our money back. We still paid for the one night we HAD to stay there. The room also had no TV, even though there was TV in the room pictures. Oh, and the breakfast was one of the poorest we ever had. An experience not to repeat for sure.

Lovely stay!

We arrived in Aljezur just for 1 day/ night, and Aljezur Villas was absolutely perfect for us! It is a clean, hospitable environment with very friendly staff. It is very community based with many shared common areas but allows for tons of freedom around the property. We enjoyed the lovely pool and backyard amenities, had our own private entrance to our spacious room, and were very happy about the convenient parking out front. Wish we could have stayed longer, we felt so comfortable and at ease here!

We arrived tired and stressed from Italy, and we leave this magic place, deeply healed by a total immersion in the beauty of Portuguese nature. Woods of eucalyptus , Marittime Pines, and so many Arbutus Unedus, with their sweet berries!! We slept in a giant Tepee, so accurately prepared for our stay! Friendly young people, took care of us. Thank you for having created Quinta Alma!! Giuliana and Raffaele

Not for winter

Reviewed By antoniocotao

Perfect location at the best price. Very practical check-in and check-out, despite some misunderstanding on our part at the arrival. However, the experience during winter wasn't very comfortable. The room was cold with only one blanket for each bed and no other possibility to warm the place. Ended up sleeping with 3 layers of clothes, a scarf and a hat, almost as if I was at my tend.

Mayla Surf House

Poorly managed and overpriced

Reviewed By HendrikM

Very nice area to explore and great for surfing however the house is not a good choice to stay. It is in a quiet residential area but a car is essential as quite a distance from the beaches and restaurants. The house is big and could be comfortable but is badly managed: 1) no staff around, so no help whatsoever, awkward organising check-in and a bizarre atmosphere with other guests. 2) no cleaning, which is not great in the communal areas, particularly if people leave their rubbish and beer bottles around 3) very basic rooms - ok if all you want is come in and sleep. The shower blew hot and cold, was tiny and the curtain didn’t work so the whole floor got wet. After a day surfing a nice relaxing shower would have been great!! It like a mix between sharing a house with strangers and a hostel without the vibe. Finally, we’ll overpriced for what it is. €40-50/night max.

Gorgeous rooms, tasty breakfast and the friendliest staff

Reviewed By rolandn288

A lovely place. The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable, with nice balconies. It's not too far to walk to the beach. The breakfast was a real plus, with a good spread and even some delicious pastries. But most of all, the guesthouse is run by lovely people. Victoria went over and above to help us out during our stay. And when I left my sunglasses there by mistake, she went to the trouble of packaging them in a protected box and mailing them all the way to England, insisting that I didn't need to pay her back. We would definitely choose to stay here again.

Endless Summer in Arrifana

Reviewed By ArtvrdeCarvalho

We stayed over for two nights, two adults and two children. We got the room with two single beds and the bunk bed (for the kids), we got to share the bathroom with the other guests, that I barely saw along the days, so we got to use the bathroom whenever we felt to. There's also a pool next to the house, although it lacks showers on the outside. The room was nice, the beds were confortable too, at least none of us complained. They don't serve you breakfast, although you can drink all the coffee and cookies that they give you for free. Although some bread, fruit and cereals would be nice at least to be included in the price. I don't know why some reviews say there's nothing around.. There's a lot of restaurants nearby, traditional portuguese, Italian.. Heck! Even a Peruvian restaurant nearby. The nearest supermarket is like a 5 minute or less drive by car and the prices are Ok, not overpriced at all. The owners of the hostel, Ludo and Carolina are really nice and kind. Whatever you need, they will do their best to help you. The Hostel decoration is really nice and very surf-friendly. My suggestions are: it would be nice for them to have like hangers or some kind of private lockers for each room guests in the bathroom for example, for you to keep your private stuff, towels, etc, always in the bathroom. The shower in the pool is also essential, in order for you to clean the sand or sweat before diving into the pool. Some bikes to rent (I'm not asking many, like two at least) would be great.. At least for the supermarket deslocations. In overall, it was a really nice experience. Thank you L (don't think too muck about that tattoo just do it, life's too short) and C!
