A great little place tucked away. Don’t be put off by the bad reviews. I was very worried after I had read them and looked to cancel but so pleased I didn’t. This is like an air bnb, there is no reception you check in online get a code for the front door and your room and off you go. The rooms are really spacious and very clean. Lots of toiletries even make up wipes! There is a massive tv, fridge, clean towels and very comfy enormous bed. Yes there is a flight of stairs as you enter which you have to carry your cases up but it’s really no big deal. There is even a microwave in the little communal area. You are two minutes walk from the beach, and there is a Walgreens on the next block which is 24 hour. The location is great. Highly recommend this hotel.

Hotel is less than 5min away from a beach. The room was spacious and clean, but have found a hair in the bed (surely not mine). I would appreciate a drapery on the windows to minimize the light from the street. Very loud test of a fire alarm in the morning suprised us, the staff was amused, but we were terrified

Perfection

This is the second stay at Emerald Hills for my wife and I. We were here a year ago at the same time. We loved it so much that we enticed our Aunt and Uncle to come along. From the time you arrive until the time you depart, Shari and Lee are so friendly, helpful and accommodating. The two rooms are downstairs and are both wonderful, large rooms. One with bathroom within and the other a very short walk. Each bedroom has they’re own sitting area outside the room. There is also a large common area sitting room for togetherness relaxation. Shari and Lee go overboard to make sure everything is perfect for the short time tenants. Shari prepares breakfast for a scheduled agreed upon time. She cooks gourmet breakfasts that are very tasty and healthy. The table setting is quaint and changes daily as does the menu. They are both very personable. The sunsets after a long day of sight seeing are just stunning. Nothing better to a glass of wine or cold beer. We hate to leave in hope of returning soon.

So Close to the Beach!

Stayed at this pleasant little hotel in the north area of Miami Beach for 4 nights recently. Emailed in advance that we would be checking in after 9:00 pm and our key was waiting for us in a lockbox, which were able to access by calling the phone number at the front gate for the code. Our room was clean and had everything we needed, including a small kitchenette (coffee maker, sink, microwave and small fridge), big closet with safe, wall unit AC that kept the room cool and a clean bathroom. Additionally, the hotel has beach chairs, beach umbrellas, beach towels and a couple coolers to borrow for the beach, which was a huge help! Hotel was quiet all 4 nights of our stay, although it appeared to be fully booked. Staff was very helpful when we needed a couple things. There is a shaded outdoor patio with plenty of seating, large palm trees, a pool and twinkling lights. Nice place to sit for morning coffee or in the evening. The neighborhood was fairly quiet at night, although we did hear some traffic and police sirens overnight on the weekend. The location is just fantastic! 2 short blocks to the beach, literally a 5 minute walk. Surrounded by great Cuban and Latin American restaurants and bakeries, a new Roman style pizzeria, burger/shake place, Middle Eastern restaurant with nice outdoor patio right in front of the beach, two pharmacies, etc. We Ubered to a couple dinners in South Beach, mid beach and to the farmer’s market in Surfside. No problem getting Ubers. There is a free shuttle that runs to the north beach area, but it stops running around 11 pm so that did not work for us. I am so glad we found this hotel! Our only free time to visit coincided with a major Spring Break weekend and hotel prices were high. This sweet little hotel was affordable and in a perfect location for the beach. It also is far enough from the South Beach Spring Break craziness for a peaceful vacation. If you are looking simple and clean accommodation to enjoy beach time, you will be happy here.

Please don't read the bad reviews and take it on board, when we pulled up to the hotel sure we were a little disappointed, the hotel is dated and is located in a very busy area of Miami, but then Miami is busy. We found the hotel manager (never got his name) extremely helpful he couldn't do more for us. Beach Towels and beach games were available for the kids to use. Breakfast is limited choice but all there and available. Our bedroom was super comfortable and everything was very clean even if it was outdated. Sure the hotel could do with an upgrade and the corridors do smell musty, but our beds were clean and the kitchenette was clean, the bathroom needs an upgrade but the shower was great! it is in quite a noisy area however, this is Miami people everywhere is noisy! but is very centrally located and the manager does the very best he can with what he has, he works tirelessly to assist his residents. If you are looking for somewhere on a budget, central and clean within easy reach of restaurants and beach then this will work for you

Horrible experience

Reviewed By Guillaume L

They charged us $50 to get our room before the official check-in time (we arrived at 1pm). The room was indeed ready, but refused to give it to us without a fee. This is pure greed and bad customer service. Also, the music was blasting all night from the hotel bar, which we could hear very clearly from our room.

Unsanitary!!

Reviewed By Nancy C

Unsanitary, dirty rooms that are not properly cleaned or maintained - especially during COVID, this was unacceptable. There were visible stains everywhere - on the couch, rugs, tables, chairs, etc. There was mold and leaking water from the ceiling over the bed. The table had not been wiped down and had different colored spills on it. The couch had a large rip in the middle. The 2nd bedroom is a single bed with a pullout... Strongly advise against staying here.

Disappointing stay at the Sextant

Reviewed By 88mariannel

We had a disappointing experience at the Sextant, where we rented two rooms. The two bedroom, two bathroom was OK, except it did not have hot water. But the one bedroom, one bath we stayed in was a major disappointment. Our room smelled like smoke for three nights, and despite complaining about the smell , nothing was done. In addition, the linens for the sofa bed were missing despite the room being advertised as having two beds. Finally, the toilet broke the last day and while housekeeping tried to fix it, it still didn't work. The customer service is misleading. While the hotel staff says they will respond, there's no follow up. We made our concerns clear from the beginning and nothing was done. The rooms also were dirty, the towels had hair on them, and the photos on the website are very misleading. While the location was good, I would not recommend staying at the Sextant.
