Domaine des Fees

The Fairies took up places, at the foot of the mounts of Jura and at the edge of small called river... " The Cow ". In the crossing of a small road " The Fairies " welcome you and invite you to cross(exceed) the threshold. They will take you in their magic universe and without warning(preventing) borders will move(put) back, sources(springs) will sing, trees will liven up(lead), flowers will metamorphose, the words will fly away or will remain suspended from the kingdom of the Fairies. Then let "give birth to" you during this stay in the course of which you will escape with delight on their wings studed at least we wish it to you. Then take the key of these enchanteuses ways ...

Absolutely charming establishment

Located next to a stream in the heart of the Jura region, this little gem was absolutely prefect in every way...Lots of attention to details everywhere. Room was very well appointed. breakfast was lively with lots of home-made jams, honey, etc... Nathalie, the receptionist and waitress at breakfast was extremely pleasant and helpful. The owner was very helpful in arranging dinner reservations for us which could have been an issue during low season with many restaurants closed.

Flatters to deceive...

Pictures much better than the tired reality. On our way there they rang to say the restaurant was full. What hotel does not check with guests who are staying for two nights if they wish to eat? Even in their room guide, guests are allowed to order a meal up to 6pm. The room had no effective bed lights since the 'designer' shade was a 30cm ball of feathers. The promised minibar was empty. The bed was rock hard so that I had to sleep on the duvet (it didn't help much). The contrast with our final night in the Champagne region was stark. We would put this place as 2 star at best with amateur customer service and will never return.

Cosy hidden treasure!

Reviewed By Ramolavi

Cosy hidden treasure that needs to be explored. This was a recommendation for one night and it surprised me from the very beginning. Hidden in a small town with old streets and quite old architecture of the houses, hidden at the bottom of a beautiful hill with a beautiful church on top. It’s peaceful, it offers a quiet location with nature and French cuisine to explore. The bed and breakfast itself is beautifully designed by the couple who owns it. It has 7 rooms, spacious and unique. Caroline, the landlord, has given a special touch to each room including the common area. There is a pool that has as view a beautiful forest. Both Caroline and her husband are relay sweet and welcoming. We were served a delicious dinner and great breakfast. I will definitely return!

An Experience...

The Domaine de Syam is located within forests, mountains and an excellent location to cut from everydays life. The hosts are very friendly and give good advice for hiking paths (e.g. Cascade du herrisson) The hut in the tree is charming and well equipped but you have to bring your own sheets. For the price (150 euros / night), I find this not acceptable. Breakfast though is cheap and great: for 10 euros per person you get a basket full of stuff. All in all a good experience even if the details are missing to make it exceptional!

Solid, but flawed

Reviewed By MoscouT

The rooms are dated, but clean and functional. Overall the rates seem too high for the offer in this small town. What is really annoying is the breakfast: when the temperature was a chilly 12 degrees, breakfast is served on the terrace. Guests have to queue for coffee at a machine that (presumably) turns instant coffee and milk-powder into the drink of choice. Fortunately, the bread and croissants are good, which makes the honey from supermarket squeeze-bottles bearable. When asked for anything, the owner frowns, huffs, but then obliges.

Wow - Fantastique!

Our room - the Eberhardine suite - had a very spacious bathroom and was really well appointed and wonderfully decorated, with nice high ceilings and a really comfy cozy bed. The breakfast was particularly marvelous (and we travelled for five weeks so have lots to compare with!), served on the balcony with an assortment of delicious items. Our hosts, the Golls, were lovely - so helpful in every way! We even borrowed their bikes one day and rode all along the river - fabulous! Plus they called the tourist office to introduce us prior to our visit there, since (although we're Canadian we're from the west) our French sucks. The B&B, in a cool, old baroque building, is really conveniently situated in the old town across from the Protestant church and only a short walk to several really good restaurants!
