Raised on the foothills of the Jura, this imposing fortress from the beginning of the 13th century is dominated by a large square dungeon surrounded by a large enclosure with adjoining houses, an outdoor boulevard, a cistern, ditches dug in the rock and a drawbridge doorway preceded by a remarkable barbican (200 m2). Owned by the Sires of Dramelay, this ensemble arrived in 1423 to Nicolas ROLIN, grand chancellor of the Dukes of Burgundy, who left many traces of his power. Several times attacked, the Fortress of Presilly resisted French attacks (1637) before being dismantled in 1673. The site is currently managed by the Les Balladins association of Chateau de Presilly.
