Reviewed By GlynCarrePerfection! Externally the property may appear quite ordinary however its anything but. Internally this is a lovely quaint guesthouse with beautiful antique furniture and great effort taken to maintain authenticity. I stayed in an upstairs twin room which was perfect, the bed was very comfortable. The fabulous Icelandic bathhouse with showers, sauna, outside hot pool is an absolute highlight. Loved it. There was one member of staff (off-season, just four guests), super helpful and friendly. Property is reached on a gravel road however condition is good and fine with my standard saloon rental. This quite peaceful and authentic stay is highly recommended, it's like staying in a musuem.

The perfect place at the fjord
Reviewed By Michał KWe were there as a group of 4 friends. Location is more than amazing. There are two little wooden houses, each one fully equipped, they have even BBQ outside the house! And big terrace with the perfect view on Mjóifjörður. The owner - nice lady living near the houses. The place is so remote that you can think of it almost as your own. I would like to come back there someday. You're just gonna need good car, SUV or something, because there is only gravel road - like 30km from ring road.

Reviewed By johnp32000We loved this hotel. One of the best on the entire trip! Location in the center of a small fishing town was great. The hotel itself was a historic hospital moved from another fjord to the site. There is a charming French museum across the street. The restaurant was pretty good. And the rooms were absolutely charming. The only negative thing would we could here the people above us and doors opening and closing all morning.

Reviewed By RAMON RRelación calidad-precio bastante buena. La habitación es amplia y cómoda, aunque va necesitando alguna reforma. Limpieza correcta aunque no fue de los mejores en Islandia. La recepción se hace en el hotel de al lado donde te dan la llave para la habitación que está en otro edificio. No está mal si te pilla de paso, ayuda a equilibrar el presupuesto en la ruta por Islandia.

Super normal guest house
Reviewed By Daisuke NI joined 6 night 7 days minibus tour and stayed here with my daughter (8 years old) for one night. To be honest, this was a super normal guesthouse and it didn’t give any good and bad impression to me. Just sleeping is OK and not so bad. GOOD 1, We had good soup for dinner and this was great while hamburger is so normal. 2, Nothing around so it is good for those who don’t like noisy place. NOT SO GOOD 1, breakfast is so simple and just food to start a day. 2, Room is old but clean, it was OK. However, there were only two shower booses for room of 10 or more. When we stayed, there were not so many guests but it would be trouble if there were many guests.

Reviewed By JokeWestra123During the corona crises we were a bit lost in finding shelter! Elsa, from Mjoanes accommodation near Egilsstadir in Iceland, helped us out! She offered her beautiful cottage, a bit remote, instead of a room in the house. She also was willing to change dates. She treated us on a sauna and made us known the erea. The cottage itself was new and very very cosy and convenient. It was worth the money. Kitchen and gattering room were without people at the moment unfortunately, but very welcoming. Thank you Elsa!

Reviewed By kristjRvkCute little place next to a small stream that runs from the mountain above. Charming older local couple runs it. Very nice service, very clean and lovely rooms for the low price. Close to other services in town.

Reviewed By IreneL_IreneL抵達時天色已黑; google map上的標示不盡正確, 所以花了一些時間找路; 若從Egilsstadir開車過來; 經過鎮中心加油站後, 應該駛往左上方的斜坡道路, 然後右轉到Tungata Rd 沒多久 , 就會看到右邊有一藍色住宅; 就是他了; 當然直接致電屋主連絡, 也能很快解決問題; 屋主住在一樓; 我們入住在二樓; 需要搬運行李上幾個階梯, 此點須注意; 不過屋內是三臥室公寓, 全套廚房設備, 乾淨整潔的環境; 寬大舒服的浴室, 住得很舒適; 屋主還特別上來二樓招呼我們, 並提供協助; 非常感謝, 是CP值高的住宿選擇

Beautiful hosts and hotel
Reviewed By Andrei BI was traveling with my wife, baby and dogs through the east fiords few weeks ago and we decided to book a room for the night. Even we would get to the Neskaupstadur late, the host told us on telephone to go there and we will find out our room key in an anvelope. It went well, in the morning we had breakfast and a nice chat with the family that is taking care of the hotel.i think they own the hotel. I met Friedrich, his wife, brother, parents. All of them were really polite and helpful with us. We got a lot of info about the area and thanks to them we actually visited some places in the fiords. On the way back to the SE Iceland where we live, we stopped one more night over there because we really liked this people, the town and the hotel. We are Romanians living and working in Iceland, in tourism,since more than 2 years and I can tell that this people are for real. They love what they do and they are not fake, they will help you as a tourist with all their heart. That's the best you can get doesn't matter what you do. If people are nice, everything turns beautiful. I will definitely stay in By the creek guest house again!
