Wilkes-Barre serves as the county seat for Luzerne County, an area containing not one, but four of Pennsylvania's State Parks. Whether its fishing in Frances Slocum State Park, whitewater rafting through Lehigh Gorge State Park, cross-country skiing across Nescopeck State Park, or exploring twenty-two waterfalls at Ricketts Glen State Park, there is something for every outdoors enthusiast. Minimalistic Accommodations. Not very inviting.

Reviewed By marybraun0323

The room was very minimalistic. The only decoration was a mirror on one wall all other walls were bare. Closet was an indention on the wall with two hangers no door. Iron and Ironing board next to it in another indention in the wall no door. No place to put toiletries in the shower but the floor of the shower. Shelves across from toilet to put any toiletries. Pool view was what we booked which was actually what they referred to as a garden view. That means trees and rocks. Outside pool was covered in leaves and was slightly green. Indoor pool you could smell the chlorine before you got to the pool. Indoor Pool looked really nice but in a basement which was very dark. Not the couples get away we hoped for. We left early.

Lobby in the hotel is beautiful. However the room had an old tub, old flooring, old appliances and old beat up furniture. Not what we expected from a Hilton Garden Inn. Also there is no breakfast included. Location is excellent as it's adjacent to a shopping plaza with a Walmart, pet store and 5 restaurants. Overall was disappointed with the quality of the room for the price.

Our stay to attend a funeral

Reviewed By 604annez

We were traveling to PA for a funeral and I can’t say enough how great the staff was. Sally checked us in, we were given cold bottles of water, which Ed, from maintenance went and got for us, and it was so thoughtful. Michael was at the front desk when we came back from the viewing and we were able to sit in the lobby with another family member. We had stopped for wine on our way back from the viewing. Taking out a cork without a corkscrew became quite entertaining, though eventually we were able to borrow a corkscrew. Google had some hilarious ideas on how to open wine bottles without a corkscrew. We were able to have a nice visit with my sister while sitting in the lobby that night. Everyone at the hotel was kind and helpful, which was appreciated since this was not a pleasure trip. The room was fine, the bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. The room did show some sign of wear, but nothing serious. Cleanliness and comfort is more important than anything these days. Sally and Michael both helped us with directions when we needed them, and advice on the area. I may have lived in the area at one time, but much has changed over the years since I moved. I would like to thank Sally, Michael and Ed for everything. Oh, and yes, I did buy them a corkscrew in case someone needs one. Let’s hope no one walks off with it,lol.

And security plus management are terrible, a lot of people I know had so many issues with both of them . Security is awful and they make you feel so uncomfortable trying to come in , if you look young . I get they have to be sure your of age, but they sure know how to harass you well enough to make you feel embarrassed !!!! I loved to go and visit often but I had enough, Im reconsidered visiting again!!!!

Ants!

Reviewed By jmpncsu

My wife and I stayed one night at the Econo Lodge in Wilkes-Barre with our dog while passing through the area. Staff were friendly at check in and room seemed nice and it was a nice stay until the morning. When we woke up, there were a large number of ants in the room. It looked like a previous guests may have spilled something and it was not cleaned thoroughly as there were a large number of ants along the floor. They didn't climb onto the beds and get on us or our luggage, but we did have to brush the dog to get a few out of his fur. No one was at the front desk when I went to check out and we just wanted to get out of there. But I would not stay here again given the ant infestation.

Worst Stay Ever!! Jerry Mitchell GM Lies.

Reviewed By Richard D

Stayed at the hotel for one night, and as I was taking a shower I slipped, because shower wasn’t cleaned. Got very late changed rooms, and the bed smelled of cheap Cologne, and was dirty. Attempted to call the front desk, and no one answered, so therefore I had to sleep on a couch. The next morning the general manager Jerry Mitchell wanted to talk to me, and then asked me did I smell anything weird in both rooms?? I said yes I did, so common sense then why put people up in those rooms if you knew there was something wrong with them. Went to urgent care when I got back to NY, and had to have an MRI done on my knee which showed a lot wrong with my knee thanks to this place. Lastly they have these young people working there goofing off instead of working.
