Excellent modern hotel

Reviewed By maps-are-me

Nice and modern hotel close to the botanical gardens. Rooms are excellent almost Scandinavian in style and all facilities in the hotel work. The room had a nice view of Lake Victoria and so does the rooftop bar and restaurant. The staff is professional and friendly. The perfect choice for a business trip or stopover on the way in or out of Entebbe airport.

BlueMonkey Guesthouse

Welcome to our newly opened guesthouse in Entebbe! Blue Monkey offers five rooms in different sizes from our budget $22 single to our luxury $52 double. A substantial breakfast is included. The welcoming and warm atmosphere is what sets our house apart. Every room is decorated with paintings and pottery by local artists. For a fair price, any of them can be yours to take home as a souvenir. The terrace and garden are a great place to relax and escape the bustle of the city. Unwind with the beautiful lake view and a cold drink or Italian coffee at your side. You can enjoy breakfast in the dining room or on the terrace or relax in the lounge with a good book or a glass of wine. Take in the sun under a tree in the garden, where you can find citrus trees, chameolons and colourful birds. Public transport is a five minute stroll away, but we can also arrange private hires upon request.

Quiet oasis with lake view

Reviewed By Ruth P

Lovely place in a quiet part of Entebbe. Andrea and her team are super friendly and do everything to make guests feel welcome. Beds are comfy, with good bednets, and everything is very clean. The terrace and the pretty garden have a view of Lake Victoria in the distance. There are small perks such as free drinking water and a book sale/ exchange. Breakfast was delicious and there is also the of ordering dinner from an Indian restaurant in town. For a small extra charge you can access the communal areas and a shower and continue to get free drinking water and wifi on the day of departure - which is great if you're catching one of the late flights out of Entebbe.

NileIt nails the camping experience

Reviewed By turkce_bilmiyorum

I've dozens of years experience camping in the bush, but this was my wife's first time to ever sleep in a tent and she very much enjoyed it. Sometimes you hear people joke that their form of camping is the local luxury hotel. Well, if they ever tried NileIt Resort they might find it is very much like that sort of experience. We only decided that morning to go to Jinja, but needed to do some other things before we could leave; so, it was the middle of the afternoon before I called NileIt. No problem. They had room and when we arrived just before sunset, they had our tent all set up and the bed made. They also made getting there easy sending us a photo on WhatsApp of the sign we needed to be looking for to make the turn and our GPS led us directly there. The last few hundred meters are down a dirt road that can get muddy and might require a 4X4 in certain conditions. It had rained and we found the road slippery, but encountered no real troubles getting there. I appreciated that the facility is fenced in on three sides (access to the Nile means that one side is open) and there is round the clock security. The staff was very friendly. They waited till we had settled in and then offered to prepare us dinner, but there was no rush. The menu was quite varied with local foods and Thai foods dominating the menu. My wife choose pork chops and I sweet & sour pork with red curry. Both were prepared as ordered and were certainly good, but not superb. Meaning that I have no objection to the food and would certainly eat there again if staying there, but I wouldn't make a special trip for the food. We felt similarly with regard to breakfast which was a respectable eggs to order, 1 sausage, 1 strip of bacon, and a variety of fruit along with tea, coffee, and juice. Breakfast was included in the price of 220,000 shillings for a tent with a double mattress in the sleeping room and two lawn chairs in what qualified as a sitting room/entry. It did not rain while we were there, but based on all my years of camping I was satisifed that it was built well enough and properly set up so that we would have stayed dry in the rain. While we were cautioned to be prepared for it possibly getting cold at night, I actually found it quite warm in the tent -- so much so that I didn't need the very nice comforter our bed was made with. Sleeping is a tent that the staff sets up and takes down for each set of guests, so there is no ensuite bath. I found the shower house and toilets exceptionally clean. Do take a flashlight with you in case you should need to use it in the middle of the night as the electricity is turned off part way through the night. I actually appreciated that because that made it dark enough to enjoy the stars. That you are spending the night in a tent that is not a permament structure also means there is no charging of your phone overnight. Fortunately there is a charging station at the lodge where meals are served. The grounds are well maintained. My wife loved all the different varieties of plants and flowers. Mosquitos were not a problem, but do take proper precautions as they are around. The 'pool,' if we can call it that, is less than a meter deep. You can sit in it and enjoy cooling off, but not swim. It's too small. It's an above ground pool that one might purchase for your backyard, but we liked how they designed the brick to surround it and may copy that idea in our own compaund. As for activities, the resort doesn't really have anything onsite, we asked about a couple of things and they offered us brochures from other local companies that provide what we were looking for. It was then up to us to make arrangements for ourselves. Not a problem when you know the area as we do, but if I was from abroad I would be needing a bit more help -- and maybe they can provide it, I don't know as we didn't ask. All-in-all, a nice place for just sitting back and relaxing. I think next time we might take the kids, but if we do we'll get them their own tent.

Best luxury hotel in Kampala

Reviewed By E R

We spent our anniversary at Speke Resort and could not have asked for a better place - a full-fledged luxury resort which was close to both Entebbe airport and Kampala. We had a fabulous time especially the breakfasts on the Lake Terrace and our room overlooking Lake Victoria. But the icing on the cake would have to be the service of the staff - always prompt and did not need to ask twice for anything. Thanks to Akhilesh for organizing everything, your team is definitely the best in the business. Looking forward to celebrate our anniversary again at your hotel when we come to Uganda next time.

The luxury of Speke Hotel is long gone

Reviewed By Cindyuiteten

The staff try to do their best, but are not trained well enough. The Indian restaurant is a joke, as they won't even turn on the lights. The website claims that there are many restaurants in the hotel, unfortunately this is not the case, especially when it rains. When arriving at breakfast, again outside, there were not enough tables set, only 6 ready for the whole hotel. The rooms is ok, but no hot water. The shower is broken so the water goes everywhere. Sorry Speke Hotel but you really need to improve service, then maybe the hotel is again worth it. For now I would recommendto stay somewhere else.
