Order noisette…be scorned

Reviewed By sinza2017

Never, ever diss your customers when they are sitting at the table in your establishment. Never, ever assume because you do not understand other regional accents of French, that the speaker/customer does not understand you. We ordered noisettes. Your server, from behind the bar, commented on that to the other customers. The timing of busses and trains was such that we would have returned for a meal while awaiting our departure train, two days later. We did not because we did not wish to be demeaned twice in one week. Perhaps because it was Bretagne, this is the way it is. Normandy welcomed us….no one talked down to us; we are French speakers; Normandy embraced us with open arms and big smiles even when masked. Signed, The Americans of June 17th who came for a mid-morning coffee….

Very busy popular campsite but poor customer service

Reviewed By lapointecamping

My husband was playing in a golf competition at the resort so we thought it would be a good idea to stay 2 nights on the campsite in our camper van. Our first impressions were good. Although the site was very busy the setting was lovely, very well laid out with nice walks and space to get away from the crowds. The golf course and club house were excellent. After golf the next day we were relaxing at our pitch and planning our evening meal when a campsite employee arrived in a buggy and wanted to know our names and what we were doing on this pitch. I showed him the map we had been given at reception with our pitch clearly marked in felt tip. He looked surprised, rang reception then told us the receptionist must have made a mistake! We had to move straight away as someone else had booked the pitch. We had to pack away table and chairs, stow away our belongings in the van and drive to a completely different part of the campsite, while our bemused neighbours looked on. Even though it was not our fault we received no apology at all . It was implied that we should have known it was the wrong pitch as it was larger than the one we had booked and paid for. We felt very shabbily treated and left as soon as we could the next morning.

Lovely, clean, modern hostel.

Reviewed By HungryCrow

Exceptionally clean and modern hostel, with wonderful staff and lovely decor. Didn't give it 5 stars due to the limited kitchen facilities for guests. There is a microwave, kettle and sink to wash up, but no other cooking facilities, and limited fridge space, which means that you must rely on eating out for longer stays. Having stayed extensively in hostels around the world the self service cooking facilities would be on the very low end for a hostel, but perhaps most stays are short, overnight stays and so this would be fine. The dorms are spacious and the bed design offers lots of privacy. Location is great for accessing the train or walking into the centre of the pretty town centre.

Friendly hosts, tasty breakfast

Reviewed By Doug F

Our family of five stayed here for two nights and were greeted by Phillipe. His friendly exuberance overcame language barriers. The rooms were good. The breakfast was excellent with homemade bread, toffee, and applesauces, plus usual assortment of baked goods, coffee, tea, and cocoa. The town is small with lots of character and friendly. There is nearby path along the beach, but at low tide the ocean is very far away. Overall, a great stay away from crowds.

One of the brightest, most memorable highlights of our entire trip!

Reviewed By DrHollyP

My husband and I were on a biking trip and were scheduled to stay at Manoir Belle Noë for one night. We were aware that this was an historic home and that we would have our meal there that night, and we anticipated that we would have a positive experience. However, we could not have imagined how truly delightful and special our time there would be. From the moment we peddled to the house, we were greeted by Loïc and Marie, the manor's charming and gracious owners, along with their adorable and comical dogs. They showed us to our room and made us feel right at home. The room was clean and you could really feel the history behind it, which my husband and I just loved. Loïc and Marie thoughtfully arranged dinner at a time that was convenient for us, which gave us an opportunity to walk around the gorgeous grounds of the estate; you should definitely do this–they're gorgeous. When we came in from our walk, we were greeted with the wonderful surprise of Loïc and Marie offering us a glass of wine and chatting with us before they served us dinner and ate right along with us. We couldn't believe what a delicious, multi-course meal they made; it was clearly prepared with great skill and attention to detail. Moreover, because they remembered well in advance that I was a vegetarian, there was more than enough for me to eat. They were incredibly kind, funny, engaging, warm, and lovely hosts, and it felt like a genuine gift to get to know them and the history of their home. And although they would have been perfectly capable of speaking with us in English and gave us the choice, they sensitively took our lead and spoke in French with us throughout the entire evening, giving us a valuable opportunity to immerse ourselves in the language. We left wishing we could stay and spoke fondly of our time with them during our trip. And on our flight back to Boston, as we reflected on the highlights on our time in France, our stay at Manoir Belle Noë with Loïc and Marie was the first thing we mentioned. Whatever you do, treat yourself to staying here. And many, many thanks, Loïc and Marie, for a magical time! We'll definitely be back!

Nice place.

This was our first site when we travelled south. Nice clean place with a bar and shop. Lots of electric hook up pitches, showers etc. You can pre-order your bread and baguette the evening before. Not far from the sea and Bretagne, a lovely town which hosts a market. Really liked this site the hosts made us feel very welcome. Good value for money.
