April 18, 2023 Sachiko Swiger

The state of Arizona is one that features a fantastic diversity of landscapes and areas of geological interest. North Arizona is famous for the Grand Canyon, a colorful chasm with steep rocky walls more than a mile deep and stretching some 277 miles alongside the Colorado River. Other notable destinations in North Arizona include Flagstaff set alongside the San Francisco Peaks which has the largest ponderosa pine forest, Museum of Northern Arizona, and is close to a number of national parks and monuments. On the south side of Arizona lies the city of Phoenix, the largest in Arizona. Notable day trips in Phoenix include the Heard Museum which is one of America's largest collections of Native American art, Phoenix Museum of History, as well as the Desert Botanical garden which has a great collection of desert plants.

Wander Camp Grand Canyon

Unexpected place to find

Reviewed By Matt M

We absolutely loved this. Had 2 boys that have never slept a day outside and they had a blast watching the sunset and just watching the stars come out. I got up early to watch sunset and the early morning planets. We had a great time. We hadn't planned on doing anything like this, but spotted it along the way. Wife thinks it might be the highlight of a 33 state trip, so that's saying a lot.

De luxe chalet on KOA is excellent, quiet, spotless clean, luxurious

Reviewed By Dutchkathy

We arrived in the dark and it was pitch dark in the neighbourhood. The office had a welcoming envelope ready outside for us with the routing to our chalet. They had light the lights, so when we drove up it felt very welcoming. The chalet itself had a queen bed in a seperate bedroom with AC. In de corridor was a bunkbed and opposite was the bathroom with tub, shower, vanity and toilet. All had sliding doors. The kitchens was stocked with nice colourfull kitchenware. Big fridge, even had a air filter system, AC, couch, table with 4 chairs, TV with netflix, HBO, cable etc etc. Outside was a table with dining chairs on the porch. Next to the chalet was a set airondeck chairs, BBQ and firepit. All was clean, fresh, cosi, welcoming.. We could have stayed for many more nights than the reserved 2. It is an awesome, quiet place. Swimmingpool is accross the path, little shop on site.

Wooden Nickel Cabins

Best Getaway

Reviewed By Mariely A

Where do I even begin, Wooden Nickel Cabins is an amazing place to stay! We spend 3 nights here and let me just say it was wonderful!!!! The cabins are super cozy they have everything you need.. brand new beds, there's 2 queen beds and 1 bunk bed super comfortable. There's a full kitchen with pots and pans, utensils, toaster and coffee maker and fridge. Bathroom has towels and they also have extra blankets in case you need them! If you want to stay in they have cable so you can watch whatever you want. They also have a grill in the back if you want to grill some food. The area around it's beautiful and breathtaking!!! You can go for hikes and trust me you'll love it, if you're an outdoors person. It was our 1st time staying here but I can tell you we are DEFINITELY coming back! This place is super cozy and welcoming. When it comes to me customer service is everything and let me tell you Shannon is the most KINDEST most WONDERFUL person there is. She made sure we were comfortable and she was there to answer any and all questions I had! People like her definitely make a difference! They also have a play ground if you have little ones and if you need any groceries or anything the town is about a 20 minute drive so it's not bad at all. Wooden Nickle is definitely a 10 out of 10 for me, I would recommend to ANYONE! If you're looking for a place to spend a couple of days or a weekend getaway in Payson or close to it this place is the place to stay seriously amazing! Super affordable.

Small Casino With Limited Choices

Reviewed By ZeeVee61

The casino is closed on Monday and Tuesday, I was told due to lack of staff. The restaurant is closed too, no reason given. It's a small casino with a fair amount of slots. I wish they had a different variety of the Dragon Links and Lightning Links slots. I did fairly well in the beginning but over the course of 2 days I pretty much lost most of my money. But I had fun. My room was nice but I had problems with the automatic blinds. The remote didn't work. I had to ask the front desk 3 times to get someone to fix it. I wouldn't have had such a problem but I was on the second floor and the blinds were wide open. So I had no privacy at all. JR from maintenance finally figured out the remote was wired wrong. Down meant up and up meant down. All and all not a bad casino and hotel. I would visit again but I will make sure to bring more food with me. One last thing because it is a tribal casino alcoholic drinks aren't complimentary even if you're gambling.

Mistakes happen and it's the caring way they're fixed that matters. OWNER DOESN'T SEEM TO CARE.

Reviewed By U7819YNmichaelh

1) DIRTY - We rented the largest cabin and it was *very* dirty. The list is long, but I'll start with items left behind from others like a dirty sock, underwear, and used hairbrushes found under furniture or inside drawers. Half empty water bottles in bedroom drawers. Clothes closets were unusable because they had two old mattresses and a broken AC unit or broken clothes-hanging bars. Master bathroom shower curtain appeared stained with urine. 2) NO WiFi - the location of the cabin is far enough from their WiFi access point to prevent anyone in the house from connecting to it. We found ourselves using either our mobile phone as a hotspot or walking to the main building to be w/in range of the Lumberman's Village WiFi. 3) NO central AC - three of the four days we stayed there reached temps over 90 degrees and the house got uncomfortably very warm. 4) OWNER'S RESPONSE to concerns - After our stay, I called and spoke with Kelly who is one of the owners to let her know about our experience with details. Instead of assuming any responsibility or apologizing for the terrible condition of the place, she just said she'd let the housekeeping staff know. I was discouraged and told her that none of my family plan to ever stay at Lumberman's Village again and will warn any other friends and family away from there. She just said she was sorry to hear that and hung up. :(

Horrible experience and Dishonest host. Not worth your money and time!!

Reviewed By joontaka

We went there for a freezing cold night, and the heater was not working. (There were water puddles in the tent and the rug was soaked. Grill and a light were broken.) We called and texted but didn't hear back until the next day. (There is no one at the site, and no one will even respond to calls.) They replaced it with another broken one the next day. I sent a text with our terrible experience to the host, and they replied right away begging to leave a positive review in exchange with the refund for half. After my review was sent, they have been dodging my calls and texts, and there is no refund. Maybe it's an OK place if there is no issue, but staying in the tent in the middle of no where without any guarantee of help in case of emergency is a scary thing. I wonder how many of the positive reviews are true reviews. This place is a scam, and it's not worth your money and time!

After a day of rolling through the dramatic and diverse Sonoran Desert, you can roll your rig right into this Oasis in the Desert. It's so convenient with the easy-on/easy-off access from both I-8 and AZ 85. Tucson Lazy Days KOA

This is a huge KOA. Like nothing we have ever stayed in before. It has lots of activities for kids and all of the other amenities you would expect for a top notch camp ground. There is also a BBQ restaurant on site which is good but pricey. One word of caution is that if you are looking for a get back to nature camping trip, this isn't it. It's all asphalt
