Reviewed By skybluemA stay in a totally traditional accommodation at Monsaraz. The place really looks like a mountain shelter when you walk a bit inside. Short internal doors and a combination of stone and wood in the interior make the place cosy. Our room was very big, opening to a foyer and then through a low ceiling door to the bedroom. Mattress and bed were very comfortable, though in my opinion the room needed an extra split unit appliance for heating. There was one in the bedroom but as the space was comprised by more than one rooms it certainly needs another one heater! You have to keep in mind this is almost on a hilltop and during winter is freezing!! Also, for the standard of the accommodation they should provide slippers and bathrobes (we were lucky we brought our own slippers so remember to bring a pair!). It's not a cheap cheap place so these are necessities especially that the hotel is located at the countryside with low temperatures. Bathroom was ok, there was a slight issue with the stony ceiling at the corner of the bathroom because of humidity. Nothing serious but they need to preserve the stones in a better way. There was plenty of hot water throughout our stay and this is essential for a cold place like Monsaraz. A little surprise was a short side door in our bedroom that through narrow stairs was leading up to a small roof veranda. We went up for some photos with misty Monseraz castle in the background. Breakfast was ok, nothing extraordinary but enough to start well your day. Staff was also friendly. Last but not least, there is a free parking space outside the hotel. Simply book this place, BUT, mind your head through the doors and... ladies, keep your high heels at home as the streets everywhere around are cobbled.

A dois kms da casa encontrara o Centro Nautico de Monsaraz, junto ao Grande Lago do Alqueva, local onde podera praticar atividades relacionadas com a agua O monte e um verdadeiro oasis de frescura e paz, com frondosos jardins tematicos, ( jardim da piscina, jardim da meditacao ), para alem de outras zonas verdes, e de um lago artificial que no verao refrescam o monte. Estes jardins sao constituidos por variadas especies de arvores, algumas de grande porte. No interior, os saloes generosos bem como os quartos amplos, proporcionam uma estadia aprazivel. Todos os quartos possuem ar condicionado, televisao LCD e casa de banho privativa O pequeno almoco e servido em buffet,e os hospedes podem saborear o seu cafe nos jardins ou em redor da piscina. O Spa do Monte Alerta convida ao relaxamento e tranquilidade. Se pretender conhecer a regiao fora de estrada, podera alugar um dos nossos kart cross e deixar-se ir a aventura Esperamos por si.

This is a charming and well decorated retreat with a late breakfast service for lazy mornings. Breakfast is plus on local produce and staff is very kind. The swimming pool and the garden are awesome and there are lots of things to do around...

Great breakfast. We were able to park to drop off the bags and then parked in the free lot below the walls. Good WiFi

Very authentic place, refreshing pool after hot whole day trip, very nice and helpful hosts and, as a surprise, entire zoo - everything was very cosy and pleasent - we stayed like at home:) Thank you Suzan!:) Very much recommended!
