10 Bed and Breakfast Inns in Gijon: Best hotel deals for 2023

April 26, 2023 Augustus Redeker

This port city of about 275,000 on Spain’s north coast began 3,000 years ago as a fishing village. Today it’s a departure point for regional cruises, making it busy in summer (and making us wonder what those ancient fisherman would have thought of cruise ships). The original village, Cimadevilla, with its narrow, cobblestone streets, draws many tourists, and Cerro de Santa Catalina park at the tip of Cimadevilla’s peninsula provides great coastal views.

Very nice

Reviewed By Edwardscheese

This hotel ticks all the boxes for me. Reasonable prices, nice staff very clean rooms with excellent bathrooms and comfortable beds. There is a car park too but I was without a car on this trip and the short walk into Gijon centre or the surrounding bars highlighted the hotels perfect location. I will see all at the Bahia again soon.

The owners of this Hotel makes you feel so welcome from the moment you step through the front door until the moment you leave. Their service is exceptional and they really go the extra mile for their guests, nothing is too much! The views from our room was absolutely stunning and the nearby paragliding site made it even more interesting as we had 10 paragliders over the sea in front front of our Hotel.

Although this hotel is slightly out of the centre of Gijon, at 38 euros for a single room (what I paid) it is excellent value for money. The breakfast is of a much higher standard than the rate suggests, and the room is comfortable.

The staff was very very friendly and welcoming. Could have early morning coffee at the bar. Good feeling. The room was dark, facing a sidestreet. Not so nice. I had asked for a quiet room, but was disturbed by noise from the streets two out of four nights. The bed was ok and the room was clean, but overall I found it too expensive for what you get.

Great location + fantastic management

Reviewed By anditos

The hospedaje is relatively simple. Our room was small w/ not much space and a tiny television set. Why, you may ask, would we give such a high rating? Cimavillarooms is close to many tourist attractions and the one owner that we met was extremely helpful. After inquiring what we were interested in eating, he suggested 3 places and all were fantastic. Unbeatable location + helpful service + good value = excellent place to stay.

We stayed here for a few days whilst visiting Gijon. We were dropped off at the address and saw the sign but couldn't find the reception. I popped into a hotel called Hostel Verda and was greeted by a guy who couldn't speak English and I couldn't speak Spanish, but we somehow managed to get checked in. We were requested to pay up front for the room, by the same guy and then we were directed to another door, along the street. We struggled to find the rooms and had to go back to the reception for him to show us. We then had to go back again as the safe had been locked and couldn't be opened without the code. The rooms were situated in an apartment block, with residential flats, but part of the building had been converted into rooms. There was a swipe card to enter the building and then into the rooms. The room itself was clean and modern and the bathroom looked as though it had been newly refurbished. It was situated in the town centre, close to the shops, bars and restaurants. It was a ten minute walk to the beach. There was a lift and the security was good. On the negative side. The hotel reception guy, was not very friendly or helpful. There was a lot of noise from the surrounding buildings and we were woken up to a lady singing at the top of her voice, which was not a pleasure first thing in the morning. The building block also had a very bad smell from the cooking in the apartments or the restaurant below. There was also the smell of smoking in the corridor as we entered and exited. The housekeeping was done on a regular basis, and everything was clean. Probably wouldn't stay there again, but as we didn't pay very much for it, it was adequate. My tip would be to learn some Spanish first before travelling to the region as it was not widely used.
