Zealand, Denmark Food Guide: 10 International food Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Copenhagen

November 4, 2019 Veronika Gaddis

Reviews on International food in Copenhagen, Zealand, Denmark. Copenhagen was once a Viking fishing settlement, and you can still find traces of the Norse explorers here. Visit reconstructed villages, the remains of a 1,000-year-old castle, and museums dedicated to the notorious raiders. Copenhagen also features a blend of modern architecture and historical artifacts such as the Round Tower observatory – a wonderful example of 17th-century architecture. Art galleries, narrow streets, canals, parks, and Baroque churches round out the city’s cultural attractions.

I am not vegan, but have been trying to reduce my dairy and red meat intake for health reasons. I am also always looking for a good vegan burger. I accidentally stumbled upon this restaurant after a long day of travel. I ordered the vegan burger and it was outstanding. I wish it weren't deep fried (so much for being healthy lol), but it was one of the best vegan burgers i have had in my life. Everything on the menu looked great. Highly recommended, especially if you are staying in this area.

We have talked about visiting Alchemist for some time now and when we read that they are closing down December 22nd 2017 we hurried to book seating for the two of us.We have tried a lot of different restaurant during the last 10 years, both in Denmark and abroad. This is one of the best experiences ever. 40+ dishes. A lot of specialities throughout the evening. The service was top notch. The only little set back was the wine. We went for the expensive wine pairing and that was too much money for 6 minor glasses of wine. We should have gone for a bottle in stead. But all-in-all a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Can't wait to see what Rasmus and his staff comes up with in the future.

A small cozy restaurant in a quiet area about 15-20 min walk from the center of Copenhagen, this is a popular place so it’s advisable to book in advance. We had booked a special offer, which was a delicious 3-course menu at very good value. All three dishes were beautiful combinations and well explained by the chef.If you’re used to American size portions you might not feel that 3 courses are enough but maybe this was what they call a “snack menu”. We opted to add a cheese dish which was also very delicious but small. The restaurant has a nice ambience and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. If you want to taste some the great Nordic kitchen and not pay a fortune I highly recommend to try this place.

to brace oneself is to physically or mentally prepare oneself, and you really really need to mentally prepare yourself if you go for dinner here. It started so well, cool place, decent ambience but after we ordered the food it was like watching a train wreck in slow motion. And the keyword being slow motion. It took our very unprofessional waiters ( with help from the kitchen am sure ) over 2 hours to serve the main course after some very disappointing starters, stay far away from the fried mackerel and if you like pasta, am guessing there are about 100 other places in Copenhagen that can easily do better. I wish it got better from here but no, the waiter had forgotten my main course and blamed me for forgetting to order it, even though we had talked about how I wanted it cooked. Obviously at this point I had lost all interest in eating at this place and obviously the waiters never apologized or even offered to take anything of the bill. I honestly cant remember the last time I tried so poor service. I have decided to give them 2 rather than 1 in rating as my girlfriend claimed the Milanese schnitzel was nice, we never tried the desserts as the waiter had ruined our evening by this point. Good Luck

My wife and I did the dinner for two (750 Danish), which included an appetizer, two cocktails, two meatball orders, three sides, and two desserts. I’m a vegetarian, and the meatless meatballs were delicious. Service was outstanding.

This place is a small sandwich restaurant close (a few blocks) to the Copenhagen main train station. You could easily walk by; however, you will be missing out on a great sandwich experience. The guy behind the counter recommended the 1, 5 or 9. I went with the 9 and was not disappointed. Easily, one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten. The one item that makes a sandwich great, not just good is the bread. The bread, texture and taste was excellent. Plus, extra points for being slightly toasted.Last the sandwich was a generous portion. You won’t leave hungry. I will definitely go again next time in Copenhagen.+ Good service+ Great value for the priceThank you very much for taking the time to review Smagsløget - we truly appreciate it. We hope to see you at your next visit in Copenhagen. :)
