Copenhagen's Nyhaven, or "New Harbor," is actually steeped in a long heritage. Colorful buildings line the canal and hint at a history of small-vessel traffic. Like many ports, this strip has a salty history, rich with sailors, drinking and Literary exploits. Danish author Hans Christian Andersen made his home in Nyhavn as well. It's cleaned up now and is a lovely place for a stroll.

The houses painted in their different colours were gorgeous. We took a biat trip and saw them from the water which does give you a wonderful view. What did surprise us was how small the street itself was. Most of the houses had some form of advertising on them and right in the middle there was an elaborate "gentleman's club" with photo's of women on the outside. They weren't rude photo's but seemed to help towards spoiling your impression of Nyhavn. Of all the places we visited on Copenhagen this proved to be our least favourite due to it being overcrowded & full of cafe's & restaurant's spoiling the view & atmosphere of the place. There was so much litter in the harbour too - no doubt from us tourists. Glad we saw it but wouldn't rush back.

We went to Tivoli on the 2nd day it was open for the spring season and it was decorated beautifully. Made for some fabulous pictures. We had a Copenhagen card but did not realize that you pay to enter and then you also pay for any rides and of course any food/drinks. Not unlike other “theme” parks. The weather was cold and grey so we did not feel like doing any rides, but we did enjoy walking around and seeing 2 of the shows offered. Quaint theme park with so much history. We went out of the park for dinner and then came back for coffee/dessert and to see the laser show. It was worth it. You shouldn’t miss Tivoli especially around the Easter season.

Hands down, one of the best Islamic art collections I have ever seen. The quality of the exhibits were incredible and beautifully displayed, ranging from various periods of Islam and covering numerous countries. Please do visit and spend at least two hours in this incredible museum.

I wouldn't bother at lunch time, it was a battle to get near anything. Breakfast/brunch time is a much better time to visit. I recommend getting a bowl of porridge, seriously it was the best breakast i've ever had. I know your probably doubting me right now but go try it, i had mine topped with caramel, chocolate and banana and it was sooooo good.

This church is located rather bit remote, regarding the strict centre of Copenhagen around the City Hall, Tivoli Park, Stroeget str. and Christiansburg Palace. We needed to go toward northwest from the very center of Copenhagen,to get to this amazing gothic church, called Grundtvig Church. It was erected in commemoration of the great Danish priest, poet and reformer Grundtvig.
The church is of monumental proportions, with high ceilings, high elegant columns, prodigious arches, that look as if they aspire to the heavens, then especially what we encountered only here in Denmark, a Danish furniture design classic, represented here in the church as the beech wood chairs with the wickerwork seat.
Inside, we felt kind of calm contentment, looking at the sole decoration of the church in the shape of yellow brickwork.
Very nice.

The Hirschsprung Collection is beautifully situated in the green parklands of the Ostre Anlaeg on the old ramparts of Copenhagen. The museum houses Heinrich and Pauline Hirschsprung's collection of Danish art and first opened its doors to the public in the summer of 1911. The museum was designed by the architect H.B. Storck, while the original interior and display was designed by the art historian Emil Hannover, who also became the museum's first Director. Henrich Hirschsprung donated his collection of works from the 19th century to the Danish state in 1902. The collection includes masterpieces by the Danish Golden age painters such as Eckersberg, Lundbye and Kobke as well as artists from the modern period such as the famous Danish painters P.S. Kroyer and Vilhelm Hammershoi. Opening hours: Wednesday-Sunday: 11 AM - 4 PM. Admission: Adults 75 DDK. Under 18 free.

This museum wasn't on our list until a Danish couple persuaded us to go. What a delightful surprise. I knew very little about Danish art and was fascinated by this superb collection and its reflection of Danish life, history and landscape. The free audio guide provided a wealth of information. The collection is housed in a beautiful old building set in a park - an oasis of calm and benevolence. This museum, the David collection and Louisiana were the highlights of museums we visited.

This was the first castle we visited with the children and it was very cool. Even though the day was quite bleak, the visit was well worth the trip and as it was kind of an unplanned visit, once we arrived we were very impressed.
Highlights- the Great Hall, the artwork, the spectacular chapel and for me, the organ in the chapel (that consequently celebrated its 400th year in the chapel this year).

Frederiksberg palace, Gardens and park are located up near the zoo. The park, Gardens and palace are all wonderful to walk around on a sunny day, especially if you also plan to visit the zoo. Even without the zoo, this is a huge park with lots of shaded well maintained paths. We were actually just trying to take up time before the Carlsberg Brewery opened. We are very glad that we had the time to walk the park and to visit the grounds of the palace. It didn't appear that you could go inside the palace, but according to their website there are guided tours on the last Saturday of each month. Also a lot more information on their website about guided tours.

Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek ia basically an Art Museum. The collection is built around the personal collection of Carl Jacobsen, the son of the founder of the Carlsberg Breweries. It is primarily a sculpture museum.The centre of the building is an indoor tropical garden. You can have a drink at the cafe while enjoying this beautiful garden. This is a beautiful buildings with nice ceiling paintings, nice and grand staircases and several very beautiful display halls. There are many nice sculptures in display. There is even a display of Egyptian artifacts in a room deep underground, with a long staircase leading to it. It gives a rather eerie feeling if you are alone in the room. This is a nice museum, not too big and not too small, just nice to give a nice stroll to enjoy the display.

Be there early if you want to climb this magnificent looking church tower. The line of people goes further inside and when time is up they close the inside door to the tower, disappointing lots of would be climbers. So.... Rise and shine. Go early!
