We hadn't been here for a while so looked forward to our night out with friends.Parking is very easy and we got a spot just outside.The food was excellent though portion sizes were quite modest. Unfortunately all the wait staff seemed very new and inexperienced.In their endeavours to serve they continually tried to clear some of our dishes/glasses mid meal.Also knowleldge of wine was non existent.Perhaps a bit of training would be well placed.Maybe just an off night.

Thai Lantern has been here a long time and we were here a couple of years ago when it was a lot better. This time the food was below par, service just OK, ambiance less so.It gives the impression of just going through the motions and lacks any real enthusiasm as a restaurant - still in it for the money.

We have lived in Ivanhoe for 4 years and never been to this restaurant. It is upstairs on the first floor of a 'not fancy' building. The entranceway looks a little shabby. From the street it looks like a massive restaurant with very few people in it. But looks can be deceiving. After reading our Osteopaths recommendation we decided to try it and was very pleasantly surprised. The inside presentation is nice, clean and does have excellent views. The menu is quite extensive and just a little bit different to your 'usual' local Thai restaurant. We started with the share platter which was delicious followed by a chicken stir fry and seafood dish. Both were very refreshing on the palate. Simple but flavoursome. Full of fresh veggies and seafood. And such great value for money. the average main is $17-$18. All in all it was great service with perfectly cooked flavoursome food at a great price. Will definitely be going back.Our team are greatly appreciate for your time writing us review and looking forward to see again. We do also have a plan to renovate the entranceway. Thank You

Absolutely love visiting Som Tam. The food is always delicious and great portions and if you can’t finish they’ll provide you with a take home container. It’s very affordable too!Service is amazing and the restaurant has a cosy atmosphere. Must visit if in thornbury.
