Boonton Thai Cuisine

My tri-town community FB page gave this restaurant great reviews and we went to celebrate my birthday last night. My immediate thought was it's expensive for little Boonton. I had the Claypot Shrimp and my husband had the M-Curry Chicken, and we shared an appetizer. The bill came to over $50. Now I would like to say it was worth every penny, but not so much. The claypot shrimp came with 5 shrimp and a bowl of glass noodles with very few veggies at $18; the M-curry chicken has barely a chicken breast in the dish at $17. The flavors were outstanding and everything was cooked perfectly. Waitress was fabulous, her name started with an M. Will probably try again, maybe for lunch.

Upon entering the restaurant I spoke in Thai to the pretty middle aged manager. She answered me in fluent Thai whereupon I told her that she passed the test. Many so called "Thai restaurants" in the US aren't Thai. There are Chinese restaurants that think they can cook Thai food but they just don't know how. We kept our orders simple. I ordered Phad Thai with shrimp and Ellen ordered a curry. Our waitress would not separate the chilles from our orders; we had to specify the degree of heat and they did follow through with our wishes exactly. I was not able to eat all of my Phad Thai so she returned that in a box for me to use latter. She never ask; she just did it. Good food; great service! We said our goodbyes in Thai with a big smile; of course. A delightful dinning experience... so many thanks.

This restaurant has such an extensive menu that there's something for everyone( which is one of the reasons my wife's company often has office lunches there.)I started off our lunch with Wonton soup ( hot and delicious on a cold day ) my wifehad Miso soup which she also enjoyed. For an entree I had Pork Mixed Vegetables(sliced pork with red peppers, broccoli, zucchini ( i think ) all nice and crunchy.)My wife had Shrimp Mango Passion ( fresh, large shrimp and mangos ) which she enjoyed, but I guess I'm not much for mangos because they had a rather bland taste.) For dessert we shared Muchi Red Bean Ice Cream which seems to besome sort of gelatin outer covering with an ice cream center. A little unusual mouthfeel (having a warm outer cover and cold vanilla center) but very tasty. Service wasexcellent, friendly and efficient. They also have the best green tea I've hadanywhere.
