We had dinner here Saturday night. I had a beefeater martini, ice cold and delicious. Our waiter, Randy, brought out a plate of rolls. some sweet with raspberry butter and pretzel rolls with regular butter. My husband had the wedge salad, he loved the bacon and french fried onion rings, however, the blue cheese dressing, to him, tasted like supermarket dressing. He loved the perfectly cooked medium rare rib eye and french fries. He said the rib eye was so tender. I had the Heirloom tomato & burrata salad. the burrata was soft, luscious and the aged balsamic gave it a great tang. I also had the French onion soup. The soup was piping hot, lots of onions and beef flavor and plenty, and I mean plenty of cheese. I couldn't finish it all.

Made a reservation for 8:30pm. When we got to hostess stand asked if there was a possibility of getting a booth. They told us in just a few minutes they could certainly do that. Well the couple at the table we were getting paid their bill and decided to stay for another almost 30 minutes. The restaurant was extremely busy. Not the restaurantâs fault that this couple was a little inconsiderate. The good news is, the food was absolutely delicious. We had the porterhouse steak, mashed potato medley for our meal. For an app, my husband got the Lobster bisque, which was delicious and I had a wedge salad. Extremely good salad. My husband had a jalapeño watermelon margarita and I had a regular mojito. Someone really knows what they are doing at the bar!!! This restaurant is not cheap!! We had a gift certificate which helped immensely. But I have to say, for a treat maybe once a year, this place is top notch!!We were happy to read you enjoyed your stay at Michael Jordan's.It's always nice to hear that we are meeting expectations.We'll let the bar know they make a nice drink.The booth seating here is worth the wait.Thank You.

What is clearly a hotel dining area is advertised as the Octagon restaurant. Not really elegant, private, or offering much in the way of atmosphere, the Octagon charges 5 star rates for 2 star fare. As hotel guests there for breakfast -- generally a situation in which it is assumed guests have places to go & desire quick service -- we were seated, then ignored for a solid ten minutes, until we literally waved our arms in a manner that could not credibly be overlooked by passing wait staff. We were told that our particular server would be informed -- a person who had not previously been seen showed up and with evident resentment accepted our questions -- no order, really, as the only options was the buffet.Generally this is not the kind of service we've received at Marriott hotels, and we were not pleased. The buffet was adequate, but not impressive. The omelette station chef overcooked both our omelettes -- brown inside and out, wow, that took some doing -- so the dry, lifeless wad of overcooked spinach, egg and onion i received as only held together by very stringy mozzarella, not the cheddar cheese i had requested.Okay, it's a hotel buffet, not Sardi's, I know, but...wow.Only a few miles from Mystic, the Octagon has no views of the river or ocean.Unlikely we'll return.

This place is an old fashioned steak house plain and simple. There are no frills. The decor is dated. The rugs have seen better days. Having said that the food is excellent. When you order an entree it comes with the salad bar. If you want salad knock yourself out and have as much as you want. Three bread options are available at the salad bar as well.For my main course I had the pork chop with mashed potatoes. My wife had the beef kabob with steak fries. Our dishes were cooked to our liking and they were very tasty. For dessert I had an excellent bread pudding and my wife had the cake. Our server was very friendly and efficient. We told him we were pressed for time due to being delayed by traffic on the way to our concert. He made sure we were in and out and that it didn't affect our meal.Thank you for stopping by on your way to your concert! We are happy to hear the waiter was efficient and friendly!
