Where to eat Spanish food in Playa de las Americas: The Best Restaurants and Bars

May 25, 2020 Trinity Boughner

Find out what Spanish restaurants to try in Playa de las Americas. Playa de las Americas, near Tenerife's southwestern tip, is a lively, upbeat resort built in the 1960s. Today it's crammed with British restaurants, bars and hotels and North European tourists. Its white sands attract hordes of sun worshippers, while nearby El Medano is famed for its windsurfing. Top attractions include sailing, golf and dinner theater shows, but it's the nightlife on Veronica's Strip that is the top draw for the crowds of young tourists who flock here to party around the clock.

We were returning to this restaurant after visiting in twice in one week the last time we were in Tenerife. The food was great - my husband enjoyed the pork cheeks very much indeed and my fish was good too. Pineapple and ice cream dessert was lovely and refreshing. There was a really nice touch of some bread and cheese and olives for which there was no extra charge. The wine was good too. The only downside was that the service was a bit hit and miss as although it was not that busy, just 2 servers had their work cut out. We had to wait a long time for the wine as they kept forgetting and then longer for ice bucket. The fish I was brought was not what I ordered (and too strong for my liking) so they took that back and brought the right one (sea bass) but it was mainly raw so it had to go back again. It was delicious when I received it, but it was slightly chaotic. So I would still go back next time and would just hope for a bit more seamless service!

We went twice to Mundo´s for lunch during a week stay in Adeje. The food is really good, the interiors are bright and welcoming and we had very good service as well. They are also very vegan friendly and our waitress was very happy to suggest changes to dishes which were not to make them vegan. Music was a bit loud but they lowered it as soon as we asked. So I would definitely recommend this place.

In this cute little restaurant you get tasty tapas and great service. The couple running the place are so friendly and nice. The tapas we had was sausage, ham and cheese plate, potatoes with four sauses, tomatoes with goat cheese and pork. It’s enough with 4-6 tapas for two people and the food we had tasted really good. All the dishes was put together nicely and looked delicious. All in all, a great place to visit here in Tenerife

Best way to describe this place is, it’s a small tapas (media portion) bar in a private courtyard of an apartment complex festooned with colourful umbrellas hanging above you. The staff are very friendly and happy to help you choose, “three tapas for two people” was the recommendation of our smiling server. The chef was working in the small open kitchen single handed so we didn’t expect lots of dishes to appear simultaneously, it won’t happen, it’s tapas to order. We received a complementary dish of olives to nibble whilst we deliberated the printed menu and hand written specials board. We choose the plate of very tasty mixed Iberian meats with cheese that was creamy and delicious, a dish of tender calamari and plate of asparagus cooked to perfection with Iberian ham and prawn pieces, the plates arrived in that order with time to spare between. The chef explained that he changes the specials very frequently but never removes the house special of Beef as it’s asked all the time. A very acceptable Albariño (€16.50, same price as the house vino), bottle of water and bread totalled €50.30

My wife and I visited this small yet stylish restaurant in July of this year. I had read some reviews that billed it as Michelin star quality at affordable prices, and this was a great description of what we experienced. We were encouraged to go for the 6 course tasting menu which had a nice blend of meat and seafood. The food was fantastic in both concept and appearance but most importantly on taste. Every bite was utterly delicious from the selection of breads with innovative dip to the Mexican fish taco, beef carpaccio, followed to name a few by slow cooked ribs and a Delicious chocolate gnash for desert. I highly recommenced this restaurant, the service by Josef was friendly and informative also without fault. We look forward to out next visit.thank you!!! for having enjoyed with us !!! I hope to see you soon and we will have more gastronomic news

Wow what a guy! What great food at a great price. Only one chap who takes your orders, pours the drinks, cooks your food and then once he's done that he comes out and sings on the karaoke machine!! 3 of us ate here. Ordered steak and mixed meat grill, 2 beers, a wine and apple juice this only came to 24.60 euro and was outstanding value for the food and service we received. As others have already said please don't be put off by outward appearance as you will not be disappointed.

We booked to come after reading reviews, when we arrived we found out to our upset that you had to prebook the paella and couldn’t order it on the night (very unusual). The goats cheese and chorizo was nice, as well as the calamari, however the cod fish croquettes were overdone and hard. The cocktails were nice, we enjoyed those! This was supposed to be a full meal, however as we came for the paella and couldn’t we just made it a little snack.
