Weâve eaten at the Mermaid before, but really thought the happy hour was excellent on this trip. The service is efficient, but not rushed. All of the waitstaff are helpful and pleasant and the food is very tasty. We had a mini clam chowder to start, followed by two dozen oysters. At happy hour, oysters are only $1.25...a great deal. My wife then had the crab and spinach dip; I had a shrimp and avocado slider and we shared a wedge salad. As a treat they give a small chocolate pudding as a free dessert. Itâs a great spot for a pleasant dinner.

We had friends visiting from Chicago, the foodie city. Some of the best restaurants in the country can be found there. We wanted to make certain that we treated them to best dinning experience available.Every aspect of our dinning experience from the service, food and "WONDERFUL AMBIANCE" exceeded our expectations. NJ hot spot. Fantastic food that rivals NYCs best. Great service. Steaks are awesome and the sushi and seafood are terrific as well. Small intimate restaurant near Central Park. The owner, Maria Loi is Chief and a delightful personality. Her manager, Alex is charming and attentive. You feel like you just entered your best friend's home. But, even more impressive is the fresh and uniquely prepared dishes. We were saddened we couldn't try more. Loved the fresh lentil soup, grape leaves and fish of the day. The desserts were light - you won't believe their baklava - no butter (made with olive oil) and may be the best I've ever had. All meals are freshly prepared - this place is amazing!
