I would love to give this restaurant either 4 or 5 stars. It could be a very nice litttle restaurant. My Bavarian hamburger was the best burger I have had in a long time. However, it was also the most expensive burger I've had in a long time. But nonetheless, it was really good and very different than a usual burger with sour kraut, swiss cheese, and ground mustard. Yummy. My husband had a regular burger with lettuce, tomato, and cheese and he enjoyed his also. However, he would've enjoyed it a whole lot more if he would have had a refill on his soda. He should've gotten up and searched for someone/anyone who would've brought him something to drink. Another lady brought our food out, our waitress popped by to say, "How is everything?", and that was the last time we saw her the entire night. No refills, no do you need anything else, NOTHING!! Good service either makes or breaks a meal. In this case, it broke it. So, after eating, I got up from the table and found another waitress and asked for a to go box for my salad. (By the way, the ranch dressing was yummy!) My husband then got up and went looking for our waitress so he could pay the bill. I actually called the manager that night, and we did receive an apology, but what's done was done. I hope I can get my husband to try it again, but let's just say, the first time definitely left a bad taste for us. I did love my hamburger, so I would like to try it again to see if a different waitress would make a difference. To sum it up, the prices are a little steep, but it's a restaurant worth trying. Just hope you get better service than us!

Went here for dinner. I was quickly seated and my drink order was taken right after I was seated.Took a little bit of time trying to figure out what I wanted. Decided to go for the boneless and standard wing plate. Lots of potential sauces/flavor and heat possibilities; went for the Asian chili. When the meal arrived, no celery sticks or carrot sticks were included, but let that pass. While the boneless wings came out pretty good, the standard wings were sort of mixed; for the most part, they were cooked properly, several of them were sort of dry/almost burnt around the fringes; a little bit like eating stringy chicken. The server did a fine job of keeping my drink refilled. May or may not go back again.

First off, friendly people, not afraid to chat it up with customers, the bartender actually carries on a conversation with diners at the bar. And 2nd the food is AMAZING. This is 5 star cultural "REAL" Mexican dining. It's in a quaint historical neighborhood in an older brick building in Salisbury, NC. (where Mombo Grill and the bakery used to be....the bakery is still open next door) Mexican food in Salisbury has always been soggy tortillas stuffed, topped or next to a small amount of hamburger with plastic cheese. (after 15 minutes of chips and tomato sauce) The Hoppy Taco is chef inspired, made by really good cooks or chefs. I had the special, a poblamo pepper, lightly breaded (for lack of another term) stuffed with vegetables, nuts (not sure what else but a great stuffing) and topped with a cream sauce. My husband had tostadas with chorizo and rice and beans on the side. They have a "street food" section on the menu if your'e craving street tacos but their entrees are gourmet. I'ts fresh, refreshing and decadent. The desert we had was chocolate cake with flan on top, baked in the cake, and easy to share. The dining room was occupied by locals and Hispanics who let us know the food was authentic. They'll even make a pitcher of Mexican milk for you, although it's not on the menu. I hope this place is successful, it's different, worthy of date night (they serve beer...maybe wine?) I'ts decor is very simple. It's a stretch to think those used to El Patron or the other "same old, same old" Salisbury MX restaurants will appreciate this place, they have had people ask if they really were a Mexican restaurant (because it's NOT like the others, including Go Burrito). Have been to MeX many times and this is what one would find in a small fishing village or Mexico City or an all inclusive resort. It's just very, very, good and hopefully the locals will appreciate this unique restaurant so it can hang around for a long long time.

We had only visited this restaurant for lunch from the lake, but accompanied friends here for dinner on this visit. During lunch, there was a limited menu available, however, there was a full menu for dinner, including a seafood plate special. We ordered the buffalo chips as an appetizer ($6) which were delicious, and shared the TJ burger ($7), also very tasty. Their menu included sandwiches and wraps and both chicken and beef dishes. There was a wide variety to choose from. The interior of the restaurant is very large and we were surprised at how busy they were. There is a large bar area and dining room, and the back area was held for a local Shag Club event that evening. It has simple décor and a homey feel, and I believe it is under new management. Overall we had a good meal at very reasonable prices.
