September 13, 2019 Kandra Bartel

Find out what Pizza restaurants to try in Saratoga Springs. Saratoga Springs is one of those special getaway spots where everything is just, well, pretty close to perfect. The city's lovely tree-lined streets and grand old Victorians, porch swings swaying and gardens brimming with colorful flora bring to mind a gentler era. World-class horse racing, renowned performing arts and natural springs spas, plus 13 golf courses, 10 museums, a historic battlefield, fabulous boutiques, antiques and restaurants mean there is something for everyone. Relax at the Lincoln Mineral Baths, window shop in town and then it's off to the races. Walk everywhere, it's that kind of place. One of the oldest tourist destinations in the United States, Saratoga offers ample accommodation choices in elegant hotels, historic bed and breakfasts or comfortable inns. The only drawback is you may never want to leave.

I am a lifelong pizza fanatic. If it is wood fired, I expect the crust to be a bit crispy. Unfortunately the crust here is very thin and soggy. The sauce and cheese were tasty, but not exceptional. Service was friendly.

Love their sauce. 16 inch pies so usually get 1/2 which is enough for 2 with left overs. Counter staff not so friendly and limited seating so usually do take out. Tried their wings this trip. Nice flavor but thin crispy outside and juicy/meaty inside.

This place has amazing pizza- especially if you are an aficionado of thin crust. The salads are excellent and ample enough to share. The menu is rather limited with salad, pizza, soup of the day and a few desserts however everything they serve is quite good. Wine and beer are the only alcoholic beverages served. The big downside is that the place is run down, the outdoor seating is not well kept (dead plants in the planters, broken umbrellas, chairs that don't fit well at the tables. The bathrooms smell like well... pee. The service can be quite slow as it was last night when I was there and I overheard complaining- especially after having had to wait 30-45 minutes to get a table- people were "hangry"! The staff while very nice, just can't keep up with the crowd and are at a disadvantage in the run-down atmosphere. I witnessed two waiters fussing with cardboard trying to shim up the register at the bar which teeters on an upended box. Suffice it to say that the owners have not given back to the business in terms of it's creature comforts. That said- this establishment is on fish creek and the view is spectacular on a warm summer evening, especially as the boat traffic is winding down and there is a flurry of waterfront activity at the marina and Kayak rental spot. I think I'll still go there but I know what I'm getting myself into and I realize it may be a long night of gazing at the water before I happily get to eat that amazing wood fired pizza.Thank you for your compliments and we apologize that you weren't happy with the environment at H&H. Specifically, the deck area. As you know, we had extraordinarily high temperatures over the last couple of weeks, and yes, many of the flowers that we already spent a great deal of money on, did not make it through the weather. In the same vein, we also had a couple of umbrellas break. It does get windy on the water, and our umbrellas often don't make it through a season and need to be replaced. Both the baskets and the umbrellas were on their way to the dumpster and yes, it absolutely should have been done prior to dinner service. This was an oversight on our part of our staff, and we do apologize. Given that today is the start of track season, all new merchandise was being purchased and brought out this morning anyway, but yes, it should have been taken down. If you were to come in this evening, you would see the replacements were addressed. With regard to the bathrooms, they are cleaned with bleach each and every evening. What you are smelling is the mineral rich well water that we have to contend with here on the creek. Unfortunately, it is the nature of the beast being in Saratoga Springs on a well, and on the water. Also, please understand that we are an extraordinarily busy restaurant. For this, we are absolutely grateful. We would wish that no one would ever have to wait for a table, but being one of the only waterfront restaurants in Saratoga Springs during the summer, and as you mentioned, the great food :) keeps us jamming. We're lucky that our space is as large as it is and we do our best to turn over tables quickly. But nonetheless, sometimes people have to wait. This is not uncommon for any restaurant in Saratoga during the summer. You did make mention of the owners not putting money back into the business, and I have to address this as the co-owner of this small family business. We are constantly putting money back into the restaurant. Just in the last couple of weeks, we spent $6000 on a new beer cooler, and a new pizza prep station. Last month, we had to put thousands into the kitchen, because the floor needed to be replaced. Being the owners of a busy restaurant, especially in an older building that's located in a more rustic environment without the infrastructure a city or village would have, has MANY challenges, and we are always putting money back into our business. Unfortunately, they are not always glamorous things that earn points with customers. But, they are things that keep our food and service consistent. If you are a homeowner, I'm sure you can relate to this paradox.Thank you for your feedback. I hope my comments addressed your concerns and that you'll be back on the creek soon!Warm regards,Gina MichelinCo-Owner, Harvest & Hearth

Our horse racing group really loved the Beekman Street Bistro and were saddened when it closed. Its successor on Beekman Street did not disappoint. It is a smart, casual, modern Italian restaurant with excellent offerings both of food and wine. My octopus main was cooked to perfection and my colleagues porchetta was both generous and delicious. The wine list is very well curated and previous endorsements of Lila, our server were fully deserved. Her enthusiasm is infectious and her attentiveness and serving skills really made our evening. Would recommend without reservation.Grazie mille! We are thrilled that you enjoyed your experience and do hope that you will return! I will pass your kind words on to Lila! We were also huge fans of Beekman Street Bistro and are pleased that you find us a worthy successor to the space. Cheers!

Arrived early for our dinner reservation intending to have a drink at the bar. However, the hostess seated us at our table which was nice. I had the blueberry lemonade cocktail which was very refreshing. Our waitress was very friendly and informed about the food.I had clams Oregon at a and my husband had the shrimp version, both delicious. Then I had the penne alla Sicilians with sausage, tomatoes, eggplant. Loved it! The hubby had the rigatoni Bologna’s which he loved. Highly recommend for great Italian food!
