So good, that’s all that needs to be said to describe the food here. Definitely not your average pizza restaurant. Friendly welcoming staff, generous toppings and fresh made fettuccine pasta with again a generous amount of delicious bacon included.Roughly 15 minutes to make, in what appeared to be quiet time. Which is fine by me because let’s be honest, any faster would be suspicious. The restaurant is eat in, air conditioned, or take away. With on street parking at the front or a public car park around the back.(Not that parking is ever an issue in Maclean.)If I’m not returning here next time in town, then I’m looking forward to what ever new restaurant can top this. Delicious!

Sassafras

Having recent short stay in Yamba presents the pleasant problem of finding a special place to dine.We struck gold at Sassafras, their catch phrase is Pizza Pasta & Seafood, and they present he trio in style. All the favourites with the pasta courses, wide range of toppings on the pizza's and blackboard specials offering creative seafood / meat dishes with all types small or large. The staff are friendly and efficient, the table settings welcoming and the food is sensational. The extra surprise is all alchoholic drinks are BYO with a very convenient bottle shop opposite and the restaurant's corkage fee is a mere $2 per person..We enjoyed the evening so much and booked a repeat performance the following evening before our departure. When in Yanba do not miss this place.

Went for dinner and was very disappointed with the menu for a italian restaurant. Should of google it before booking. Had a few starters but for mains not much choice at all. No ravioli no fettuccine dishes. 1 knocci, 1 spaghetti dish with seafood 1 rissoto and 1 other dish. The rest were pages of Pizza! Seriously! This advertises as a restaurant not a pizza place! The restaurant looks lovely has good staff on too. But the variety was a let down! Most of the mains hzd seafood too. No other choices. The bruschetta was nice but we all were disappointed with our mains. Very bland , no flavour in the sauces at all. Sorry won’t be going there again. Would not recommend as a Italian restaurant only a pizza place!Hi Grannie Annie - I am wondering if perhaps you missed the main course page in the menu, and that has led to a misunderstanding of what we offer. Currently our main courses include three meat options (rib eye, veal and pork belly) and a beautiful locally caught fish. Our current pasta dishes include a meat, vegetarian and two local seafood options. There are two salads, and as you note, a range of starters, Italian wood fired pizzas and desserts. Incidentally, our menu changes regularly. We are a husband and wife team with a small staff, and our menu is designed to allow us to hand-make everything from scratch daily, using fresh local produce. Larger menus often mean that things have been bought in (pre made, pre packaged, mass produced, and cheap, quick and easy to keep for long periods) or aren’t as fresh as you might like - but we won't make this compromise. This isn’t always appreciated or understood, but we strongly believe in the nutritional benefits and most agree it is reflected in the flavour. Sorry that wasn’t your experience; we certainly would have liked the opportunity to check if there was some issue with your meals because your feedback is very inconsistent with what is generally received. All our bestKathryn
