Attended with a large group on a Saturday afternoon. We all placed our orders and paid individually at the counter. Members of our group got everything from garlic knots and pizza slices to lasagna and eggplant parmigian sub. Location is in a strip mall on the west side of Carrboro, Atmosphere is very casual and staff were pleasant. My sausage stromboli was good, and everyone liked their orders. Prices seemed pretty reasonable. This wasn't gourmet food but decent and filling Italian fare.

Amante-- I LOVE YOU!!! You are in my speed dial and have been FOR YEARS!!! Your pizzas are consistently amazing, hot, flavorful and dare I say---- PERFECT!!! The dough is not too doughy, not too crusty, the topping amounts are just the way I like them. I try other places at friends' urgings and I have to say... all roads to me lead to..... Amante!

The Mediterranean and Apricot pizzas are outstanding. The Apricot pizza might sound funny (apricot glaze ...) but it's an incredible mix of sweet (apricot) and salty (soppressata salami). The Mediterranean also has a great mix of flavors, including fresh (not dried) oregano. The amount of char on the bottom is perfect. Note: This pizza is Neopolitan style, which means that the dough/crust are soft not crispy (which means that you might need to eat it with a knife and fork). I must admit that, personally, I prefer a crispier dough (as at Toro or Mercato) but I'm willing to live with this because the flavors on the top are so fantastic.

Pizzeria that offers several styles of pizza as well as several Italian dishes as well. I had two slices of new york style or thin crust. For 2 slices of pepperoni with banana peppers and a fountain drink I paid close to $10. Were the extra banana peppers that much? $1.95 for a fountain drink? While the amount of sauce a person prefers is subjective there was hardly any on these two slices. They do try to use local suppliers and I applaud that it is just that I really didn't taste anything in this pizza to make me go WOW! Maybe the pasta dishes are more their specialty and this is a full scale italian restaurant masquerading as a pizzeria. I would definitely consider eating here again if we were in the area but probably wouldn't go out of my way to return.

My UNC daughter told me about this place near her house. I also saw an article somewhere that this was one of the best pizza places in the south. So...why not. Looks like a fast food place inside. Casual and very lively. Mainly due to the owner. Quite a character. Very nice person very passionate about his food and his customers. Wonderful person.They had lots of non-pizza things, but we were there for the pizza. Crust was very light. Maybe the dough they use, it's freshness or an additive, like baking soda. At any rate, it worked. Nothing skimpy on cheese, sauce or toppings.I've had pizza all over the world and I wouldn't put it in the top five of all time....but I really liked it. Wish the three of use had ordered two instead of one.Definitely will return. Good job PI3.

We were two couples with a toddler. Had two pizzas and some tasty margaritas.Atmosphere was inviting. Server (George) was very pleasant and attentive.Prices seemed higher than I recall from other Mellow Mushroom stops in AtlantaThanks for the review John!

Mercato, in Carrboro, NC, has the most creative and tasty pizza in the Triangle. I am currently enjoying 2 delicious pizzas. Spinachi has preserved lemon ricotta, spinach, black olives feta and roasted garlic. Salsiccia has provolone, marinated kale, ricotta and fennel sausage.It's not just a pizza restaurant. Gabe Barker, the owner, dreams up a constantly changing list of appetizers, sides and desserts. Don't miss the cannoli!They serve beer and wine and offer take out. Go!
