Montclair (/mɒntˈklɛər/ or /mɒŋˈklɛər/) is a township in Essex County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 37,669, reflecting a decline of 1,308 (−3.4%) from the 38,977 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 1,248 (+3.3%) from the 37,729 counted in the 1990 Census. As of 2010, it was the 60th-most-populous municipality in New Jersey.

We went on a Saturday night and made a reservation in advance. The restaurant has a nice decor. There is an outside patio area that is not opened yet. We started with the fried Kibbeh. It comes as four pieces. Very flavorful. Friends ordered the diced Mediterranean salad and really liked it. We also ordered the special appetizer salad which had a great flavorful dressing.For an entree, I had the chicken shawarma. It was on top of a piece of pita and served with rice. There is a side of tahini dressing. The chicken was very dry. So much that I had to order a second cup of the tahini dressing to make the dish moist. It was plentiful but nothing special. Others has the filet mignon kabobs and thought they were good. The waiter was nice and attentive. One drawback was the 20%tip automatically included because of the number of people in our party (12). Most places charge 18%. Would I go back, not sure unless another couple is wanting to go. Not bad but did not stand out to me. Metered parking in front. Tip: BYOB.

I have been going to Jackie's Grillette for years ! It is a favorite for both my daughter and me, and my book club also meets here. The food is always fresh--when I come in for breakfast, I can see all the preparations for lunch. It is so busy here all the time! If I have one complaint, it's that Jackie's isn't nearly big enough to accommodate all the people who love it! Order at the counter and, if you are staying in, the food will be brought to your table. Jackie's has many traditional deli-type offerings, but they are really known for their Mediterranean flair, with items ranging from Baba Ganoush, Tabbouleh, and Falafel to Gyros and Lamb Kabob....to name only a few! You have to check their menu online to see the variety. Delicious coffee and fresh juices are also their specialties, and they offer catering as well.I have lots of favorite items here, but I usually order the Greek Veggie Pita or the Greek salad.

Great new restaurant in downtown Jersey City across from City Hall. Cozy and comfortable, and still not too busy. Went there last Friday night and even though the place was pretty full, service was prompt. We had Lentil Soup, Spinach & Chickpeas, Baked Salmon, and Moussaka with Lamb. All tasty, the salmon was fresh and the Moussaka with just the right amount of spice. I would come back.

First time visit. Iâm still learning how to spell a dish I loveâFalafel. Falafel Hut is a small place mostly for take-out of Mediterranean food with 20 cafeteria-style hard chairs. We dined in. A minute walk from Upper Montclair train station. We found street parking (meters until 7 pm) at 6:30 pm. Order at the counter and served at your table.Enjoyed an appetizer of Baba Ghanoush (roasted eggplant) with pita for dunking. Entrées of Falafel Platter including side salad and yellow rice, Falafel pita sandwich, and Spicy Philly Cheese Steak Wrap. There were no leftovers.Tasty and freshly prepared. Items came out from the kitchen when each item was ready. Friendly staff, though interaction with staff was minimal. No itemized check, so trust that they do the math correctly...not a good practice.On this first chilly day of October, the heat had not been turned on.Tip: Believe the place is BYOB, but no signage. Will bring own next time.Between 3.5 and 4 circles. Will return.

This Mediterranean style restaurant has a nice, varied menu. For appetizer we tried the beet salad (large and yummy according to my wife), the calamari (pan seared, not fried), the avogannush (eggplant and avocado purée- yum) and the sweet pumpkin purée (with feta). Each dish was unique and we enjoyed them all. I had lamb chop for dinner and liked the yogurt and chutney sauce. My wife enjoyed the salmon while our friends had the manti dumplings and the grilled halluomi. For dessert we tried the Z-chef special and we all liked it. Itâs big enough for two. Very nice people and the food is delivered to your table quickly. Enjoy!

The food here is absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the chicken schawarma sandwich, the healthy mess salad and the salmon avocado tartine! Amazing! The only issue is it's very small inside. Don't let that deter you!
