Zamarod means emerald, thats what I learnt visiting the small quiet restaurant. Its menu speaks more Persian than Afghan, and it is heavily weighted toward lamb curry and lamb kabob. I could find just one dish each for chicken, fish and beef, the latter two are well in $25-26 range. Dine well in an upscale area? Need to pay up! We ordered lamb curry with rice and veggies which were cooked as curry too. It tasted very good and deserves a high five. The place, nestled in a quiet neighborhood, was almost empty right after Christmas with just one wait staff, the owner himself.I am very pleased you had great dining experience with us. After spending Sunday morning doing some errands, I opted to take my parents to Cafesano as a treat. The restaurant was less than half full but they were doing good busy with a steady turnover of people. Ordering was super simple and then took my ecoupon without issue. We got our drinks and found a lovely spot near the large windows that make up the exterior wall of the building. We were giving a remote/beacon, but they used it instead of numbers on a stand. They brought over our meal piece by piece as it was ready. My soup came first and it was fabulous as it was the last two times I had it. Then our tzatziki with the warm, crispy pita wedges. My mom got the turkey BLT and it was massive (she only ate half). My dad got the chicken schwarma and he loved the garlic sauce that came with it. It was a great meal at a reasonable priceWow! Your review really made our day. We love receiving feedback from our valued guests, and this is just great to hear! We are so happy you enjoyed your meals and had a fabulous experience. Very nicely done. You sit down to complimentary papadum with 2 sauces, the crystal goblets are beautiful and the silverware heavy and matches. Food is very nicely prepared, their breads are the best. Loved the dessert of mango kulfi - it came on a traditional popsicle stick.

Our Greek food experience is based from our trip to Athens. The Greek Salad here does include lettuce which is my preference, along with chopped veggies, feta and Dolma (rice stuffed grape leaf). Absolutely divine. We asked about a favorite dish, and the waitress checked with the chef and told us the best alternative, which turned out to be the Keftethakia, extraordinary meatballs with feta insdie on a bed of creamy sauce that I think was tzatziki. Sublime!!! We also had the Chicken Souvlaki (fabulous!!!) and the Lamb Kabob (also superb with onions and peppers). Terrific customer service and parking availability

Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine is always best in Anatolian Bistro Turkish Mediterranean Restaurant, Herndon. The chef back there always knows what he is doing with the ingredients of the kebabs. They are really tasty and yummy. Because I got here without any concern and great work syndrome then all they gone in a few minutes or less. That's what I like here. The place is very cozy I think and all the friends of mine thinking the same and we decided that this is the best restaurant in town. You like it both kebab and the desserts.

For years we've been going to Charcoal Kebab in the "K-mart shopping center" in Herndon. Now K-Mart is gone...thankfully, but Charcoal Kebab lives on. This is a family run restaurant and they're the nicest people ever. They've done a bit of remodeling in the past couple years. They also brought in a woman (who makes this place even brighter). You order your food and take a number. They call you for pick up. The lamb and Keema kebobs are our favorites. Each meal comes with a side (your choice of several....spicy lentils are amazing), freshly baked tandoori bread, basmati rice and a small salad. The rice is always perfect! It's tender and aromatic, despite having no butter or anything. They definitely know how to make it. Everyone in the place is friendly and they always serve you with a smile. When my daughter was in college in Alabama, I would ask her what she wanted when she came home. Often times, it was kebabs from Charcoal Kebab. She missed the flavors in Alabama. Nothing as good down there! I also have a friend who drops by all the time to get the freshly baked tandoori bread. It's charred to perfection. Great for dipping and rolling with meats and sides. I love this place. Should have reviewed it years ago!!!
