I can make a meal out of chips with queso and guac. The chips at this Chipotle are so salty that they are close to inedible. I like salt more than most people I know, but the salt content of their chips is beyond almost anyone's taste. I've been going to this Chipotle since they opened and have given them multiple chances since they started over-salting their chips, but I'm finally giving up. Thankfully, there's another option for fast Mexican food in Gonzales now.

We arrived in the area late so we were looking for a place near the cottages. It looks like the sort of place were the locals eat and not many tourist. The waitress didn't speak English and it looked a little daunting but the food was great and tasty. Delivered fast and hot. There was also a small supermarket connected selling Mexican produce.

I had heard a lot about the tacos here and wanted to try it. I rated it a 2 because of the service, mistakes on my order, and overcharging me. I was interested in the street tacos when I went in, as they are always my favorites. The cost is cheap enough, $2. Each. I got Pastor, Fajita and Pollo. All were good. I’d go again for these. The downside: the waitress kept trying to steer me toward gringo style food. Hard tacos, burritos, etc. I asked for plain white soft corn tortillas. I got orange colored ones. I asked for water with lemon. While everyone around me got big red glasses of water and ice with lemon and lime, I got a small plastic bottle, no lemon, and they charged me $1. I felt taken advantage of. A side of frijoles was $3. They are very runny. Too runny to eat with the fork they give you. Sour creme is 50 cents. You get a scant tablespoon in a tiny metal cup. It would have been easier to use on the plate. The ticket comes hand written with no numbers, only a total. Mine was added up wrong. Mistake or woman alone? I reserve judgement. The red salsa is hot and delightful. The green salsa is very mild. Decor is a bright orange coat of fresh paint and simple lunchroom table and chairs. New building in strip mall. Owner had a very popular food truck. No ice tea or fountain drinks. Soft drinks in a bottle.

Sat 2:30pm-Walked in and line to get food was all the way to the door(maybe 20 people in line). Took 20-25 minutes to get to where I could order what I wanted-line was hardly moving. Took maybe 3-4 minutes to make burrito I ordered. Was able to bypass others to go pay for burrito and there was 1 person in front already paying. Took 10 minutes after I got there to pay because it took cashier( only 1 cashier) most of that time to figure out how to ring up a gift card. Then charged for food seperately. Cashier seemed to not know how to run register very well but taking 20-25 minutes to just fix food for 20 people when food is made and just needs to be placed is ridiculous. Takes Izzos in Baton Rouge like 5 minutes for everything no matter the line.

Have visited a few times in recent months....the food is GREAT. Prices-not so much. I find that other mexican restaurants give a choice of which sauce you want over your food and the dishes usually come with rice and beans as a side. Here expect to pay for these extras that others throw into the meal. I order enchiladas every time- $13 you get just 4 enchiladas with barely just enough sauce to where they will not be dry. The others I frequent from Baton Rouge to Gonzales runs the same price but you get the sides and different sauce at no extra charge.
