Mi Lupita

I love Mi Lupita's. I have never had one bad thing to eat there. My favorites are the chicken chimichangas and the mole poblano. The wait is usually not long even with a big crowd. The prices are reasonable. Sometimes we eat here every week. It is like going home to your mom's for a good meal. The chips are not my favorite thing but I always manage to ask for another basketful. They are better with chorizo and white melted cheese. Their guacamole is outstanding and it is always fun. We know a lot of the locals that go there and I can say that the food is good! It is not perfect furnishings and decorations. It is a great place to get good, clean, Mexican food. I would say the BEST IN ST. LOUIS.

Vallarta Mexican Restaurant

Vallarta is an example of a very good Mexican restaurant. It is bright, clean and nicely decorated. The staff are all courteous and friendly. The food is excellent and served piping hot. Some might say the food is a bit bland for Mexican food, but you can zip it up with hot sauce or order some jalapenos. If beer is your drink of choice get the extra large drafts.

El Maguey

We are here on a Friday night & it was busy but worth it! We all had the Steak & Chorizo street tacos with pineapple & grilled jalepenos— WOW! They were full of flavor. The tacos are not spicy but come with a spicy dipping sauce & jalepenos on the side so it fits any heat level. They were delicious, not too heavy like some Mexican dishes & unique. We will be back to order these again!!!

The food tasted great. The chips were better than typical tortilla chips at Mexican restaurants. The guacamole was great--not spicy at all. There were 5 salsas to choose from, but unfortunately, there wasn't a mild red sauce. There was a mild pico de gallo (which I don't like because it has a lot of raw onions in it), a green sauce, and 3 red sauces which were medium, hot, and extra hot. There was a Coca-Cola Freestyle fountain with hundreds of soda choices on a touch screen. I ordered the Taco Salad with black bean and corn salsa, which was delicious. My biggest complaint about this restaurant is that it was run by kids who didn't go the extra "inch" to help the customers order. The restaurant is set up like Subway where you can see the food behind glass and order as you go; but because it's set up this way, everyone seems to know what they're doing and what they want to order, and it made us feel uncomfortable since we had never been here before and didn't know what to order and didn't want to hold up the line. We also had a family member that was extremely hard of hearing and took extra time. The menu was difficult to understand and it was a little far from where the line stood, so we couldn't read it until we were expected to order. The boy who greeted us did not help us understand the menu at all and we ended up ordering more than we needed and not all of what we wanted. Two of us had to get back in line to order what we were missing. It was chaotic and confusing. My suggestion is that each customer should be asked if they've ever been there before and if not, given an introduction. If you eat here for the first time, go to their website (http://www.qdoba.com/menu-nutrition) and understand the menu before you get in line!
