Choosing Palenque as a halfway meeting point with friends from Southern Wisconsin was a pleasant surprise. This Mexican restaurant in Beaver Dam is worth a detour off Highway 151 (just take the Highway 33 exit and head to the south downtown area.) Parking is free and available. Seating is available inside at tables or booths both in space near and away from the bar. Tables and benches offer beautiful artistic scenes creating an authentic interior experience. We were greeted and seated right away. Complimentary chips and salsa were served immediately by wait staff ready to take our drink orders. Menu offers many traditional and unique Mexican favorites. Portions were generous and prices reasonable. Food was served quickly. Our party enjoyed three different kinds of burritos and the flauntas. We were able to stay and visit long after our plates were cleared. All of us were impressed with our first visit to Palenque and are looking forward to meeting there again.

We have been coming here for years and have never been disappointed. Great burritos and other authentic basics. My favorite is enchiladas mexicanas with the green sauce. I do have to be careful not too eat that too late though ... Very good, friendly staff, prompt service and a great (inexpensive) margarita!

Cant say this place has changed over the years. Its not really that busy when i go but looking at the cleanliness.....youd think it it was packed minutes beforehand.Staff can be heard speaking a little out of line. Seems disorganized at times. Parking lot is a local hangout for kids. Its dirty with trash all over. Seems management doesn't care....in my opinion.
