Find out what Mediterranean restaurants to try in Tagaytay. Tagaytay, officially and commonly called Tagaytay City, (Filipino: Lungsod ng Tagaytay), is a component city in the province of Cavite, in the Philippines. It is one of the country's most popular tourist destinations because of its outstanding scenery and cooler climate provided by its high altitude. Tagaytay overlooks Taal Lake in Batangas and provides views of Taal Volcano Island in the middle of the lake through various vantage points situated in the city.

It took us a while to find the new Mano's Greek Tavern, thanks to outdated online maps as well as locals who confusedly pointed us to its old location. Note that it is a few meters away from Boutique Bed and Breakfast. The taverna has multilevel dining areas, all with a spectacular view of the lake (not exactly of the small Taal Volcano, thanks to trees blocking the view) and greenery. We were extra lucky to enjoy a peaceful ambiance since we were the only customers that lunchtime. We had their Greek salad, meatballs, moussaka, tzaziki and pita, all very simple yet flavorful, reasonably priced and served in generous portions. Service is good, meals delivered promptly.Although we were informed that they are opening a branch at Mall of Asia, Pasay City, the view and the breeze would still be worth the trip to the Mano's Greek Tavern in Tagaytay.

It is tucked inside a small development of condotel and private apartments aqay feom the main drag of Tagaytay. Charming, rustic Spanish-themed design in the middle of lush gardens of La Belle. We ordered the Paella El Cocinero, seafood-chicken combo and the. solomillo ternera de la plancha - beef tenderloin with a creamy garlicky sauce. They were both superb. Just a caution though: The restaurant is not airconditioned, it has an open layout, no windows, no screens. During the height of summer in Tagaytay (April - May) when the pineapple fruits are a-ripenin’, the fruit flies also come a-buzzin’. And in the evening, mosquitoes could abound. Rest of the year, the weather is pleasant with no insects a-flyin’.Highly recommended.

Don Limone Grill

I like trying new restaurants especially if it's recommended by Tripadvisor. But between me and my husband, I always don't have that much luck in making decision. I read a lot of good reviews of Don Limone and I am fully aware that its expensive. My husband is not into Filipino food so that's mostly all restaurants in Tagaytay serving Bulalo and other local dishes. I briefed him that Don Limone is serving mediterranean and a bit expensive so maybe just try somewhere else. We went to Firegrill to check prices and saw that steaks cost P1,300. So he decided to just jump for Don Limone if we are spending already that much and he is craving for Mediterranean. Let's start with the place, the restaurant has a very charming set-up in an old house. We are the only guests that night. The waitress briefed us about the set menu which includes appetizer and main dish. the price for this set menu is base from your main dish which ranges from P650-995 (somewhere like that). I ordered seafood pasta because i'm a sucker for anything seafood pasta which is P895 then my husband ordered the lambshank dish which cost P945 or P995 (somewhere in that price range but m sure it's P900 plus). The waitress brought our appetizer first, and it was amazing. I like the samplers of hummus and eggplant. The bread was perfect. Then followed by our mains. My husband finds the lambshank a bit sweet while I was not happy with my seafood pasta. Italiannis can make a better one. Lastly, I had to try the famous cheesecake. I chose limoncillo cheesecake since it's their best seller. Unfortunately it taste average to me, i won't pay P300 plus for it. Overall, it was not a great dinner for us. We paid P2,500 for two people without drinks. I find it expensive and overrated. Don't get me wrong, I am willing to pay that much if the food is spectacular or maybe i ordered the wrong dishes.

My husband and I dined here on Tuesday night. We absolutely enjoyed the dinner. We ordered mozzarella and cheese for appetizer, a salad and for our entree, he had pasta with four-cheese sauce while I had pasta with bolognese sauce. Our dessert was tiramisu. The temperature and texture of the pasta was just right -- high temperature and al dente. The sauces were delicious. We also appreciated the ambiance -- the low-volume background music, well-set table with linen and plate settings and quietness. (It is difficult to find restaurants in Tagaytay that are quiet -- loud, unruly children and overstaffed employees talking louder than clients are quite the norm). Our waiter was attentive to our needs. Finally, the maî·tre d'hô·tel, who turned out to be the owner's son was quite hospitable, asking us how we enjoyed our dinner. This restaurant, so far, is the best Italian restaurant I have encountered in the Philippines. I lived in upstate, NY, and I can say this restaurant is comparable to those in NY. In fact, I told my husband that night, that I felt like I was back in NY, and that I would return to this restaurant, whenever I felt homesick.

The place is pricey (minimum charge of 750/person) because it affords you a unique dining experience. Arched windows and doors, crocheted table runners and seat covers, antique chandeliers, rustic ornaments and an abundance of fresh flowers in huge jars and vases to charm your heart. The restaurant is in a secluded and wooded area with uneven terrain and narrow winding pathway. Aside from the two dining halls, they also have verandas for those who wish to dine in the open. My daughter and I ordered grilled aromatic pork and italian pork chop for our main courses. The serving was huge and the taste was delicious but it was the ambiance that was rare and special. My daughter and I are reminded of the movie, "Under The Tuscan Sun" , most specially by the view from the huge window of the dining room.
