Greek Stop

I hadn't been to the Greek Stop in a while went with my sis and she had the Gyro salad with Greek dressing and I had the Hummus grape leaves platter everything was delicious as usual. If you like authentic Greek food this is the place to go from Gyro's to Shish ka bob and Greek desserts we ate here for around 20.00 this is my 3rd visit here.

Morcilla

Morcilla offers Spanish inspired cuisine, including house-made charcuterie and family style dishes. We have a full bar with craft cocktails and draft beer. The wine program is Spanish focused wine list with a heavy concentration of sherry and vermouth.

We’ve been here in three occasions for the last 6 months; not my choice after the first. Perhaps with the exception of the wine list, the Serrano and Ibérico hams hanging from the ceiling, there’s very little to be considered Español. First, the categories of tapas and snacks are idiotic. Tapas are small plates that includes snack portions. Second, the very idea of billing olives for the table is a faux pas - no true Spanish restaurant does that, it is simply a disrespect to Spanish hospitality. Third, most of the selections are truly bizarre. Pulpo ala plancha does not look/taste like grilled octopus, but blanched pieces of squid or cuttle tentacles seared in a frying pan, then smothered in some sticky sauce. The oxtail is not recognizable, it is a spoonful of shredded beef slapped onto a dry toast. The morcilla (blood sausage), while admirably made in-house, is very dry and unseasoned. Spanish cuisine is about simplicity and celebration of the type and cut of meats, recognizable seafood, and delicately prepared vegs; combined with soft textures and bold flavors. Most of all, recognizable Spanish spices: mild to hot paprikas, flavored salts, sweet to bold olive oils, saffron—none of which can be tasted from any of the entrees. After these average to poor fares, we decided not to go for the larger entrees. Not worth the risk of another round of bad cooking. For the quality of food, it is over priced. Service is okay. Will I recommend to anyone? Probably not!

Great Middle-Eastern food at a great price. Moderately priced and a decent local atmosphere. Good service. Great when you feel like going out to eat, but don't want to venture too far (if you live in the North Hills area of Pittsburgh, that is).
