MA Raffa's Restaurant

Reviewed By Mort J

I walked in and was seated at a table with a perfect view of the circle of waiters and waitresses, who spent the whole time congregating at the counter and talking amongst themselves. Our waitress, who was forced to leave her friend group once in a great while to attend to our needs, didn't seem to understand our orders too well, as she kept coming back to double check different aspects of what we wanted. One of us never even got his soup. And we didn't even get bread for a long time, and when we finally did, it wasn't even pre-cut, which presented us with many challenges. Once we were finally served, the pasta, garlic bread, and salad were alright, but nothing to call home about.

Long time Magoni’s Diners, first review. My Mom’s been coming for years and we have dined about six times over the last year. Moderate prices, prompt seating, excellent food and service. The lobster roll is my absolute favorite. At twenty bucks, it is always chock full of lobster with just the right amount of mayo. But tonight, the special was a stuffed quahog with shrimp, scallops, and lobster. What a treat. Flavorful with just enough spice, this dish coupled with a cup of clam chowder was just enough. Oops, maybe it was just enough but I couldn’t resist one of Magoni’s famous cinnamon sticks just out of the cooker. What a way to finish our meal. Magoni’s, tried and true for another fine dinner.

I recently stopped here after picking up a paper at the next door establishment. When I got out of my car, I thought it smelled good. The building is non descript in an urban setting in Fall River. I went in and saw that they had a lot of prep cooks and cooks working hard. They had three pizza's hot for single slices - plain, pepperoni, and chourico pizza. I tried a plain and a slice of pepperoni. As they reheated the slices, I looked over their menu.Pretty impressive selection - It gave me something to look forward to coming back the next time. I think I'll try the white pizza on my next visit.Great service, great food and excellent pricing.
