The Compass serves hand-tossed pizzas and so much more from our wood-fired oven. Our doughs and sauces are made fresh in house. If pizza isn't your thing, we offer a wide selection of pastas, subs, and steaks. We now also deliver.
I've been three times and can't get past the Carbonara even though everything else looks amazing. I've eaten Carbonara in New Orleans, NYC, and San Francisco and not one of them can touch this little restaurant's. Keep up the good work, guys.
Wow! What a surprise. This an excellent restaurant. In keeping with McAlesters reputation for Italian, this different in an excellent way. The food is excellent, the price reasonable, the service good. I had meatballs and spaghetti. Excellent. My wife had Lasagna. Also, excellent. Salad was wonderful. Good wine selection. Lemon cake for dessert. We will return.

We were staying at the nearby hotel so we just walked down the hill. I had the mini meatball pasta. The meatballs were frozen processed little nuggets. The pasta with the sauce was ok but it was a bit rubbery as though it had been microwaved. Another had the wings and salad bar. The salad was the best part of the meal. Although there were only 3 tables waiting the service was very slow. I did see a pizza that went by our table and it looked much better than our order.

I have fond memories of eating here in the 1980's, a hip place with great food and bubbly atmosphere. The atmosphere is still there, though the food and place seem pretty tired. It is worth noting that Giacomo's probably has the best quality steaks, sausage, and meatballs around. The Lamb Fries (thinly sliced testicles, breaded and deep fried) are legendary to this day. It is still a very popular eatery in town, mostly because of the great people who own and operate it. The building is seriously dated and not very visually appealing. Entrees are served with pasta, meatballs, and ravioli family style. They only serve domestic beer - no wine, no liquor. Very soggy salads. Good bread. I was pleased with my food; but, disappointed to see that the rest of the equation had not kept up with the times.

Really gone downhill. Don't know if construction turmoil has hit their bottom line and quality. Ravioli pasty and doughy. Meatballs tasteless. Very little sauce for plain tasting spaghetti. Steak. . . Which used to be a specialty WAY overcooked. Asked for pink. Waitress suggested Medium. Came out completely brown/overcooked throughout. No wine; no cocktail service. Not a good experience.
