Triestina is seemingly an old world Italian BYO. Nondescript free standing building with a parking lot in the rear with a larger adjacent lot. The food was excellent, large Portoâs and very well prepared. The veal chops were gargantuan and delicious, the ahi tuna was as good as the chop and also quite large. Other choices sampled by our group were salmon, red snapper and pasta sides, all of which were excellent. Service was very attentive and professional.

We found this restaurant while we were staying at the Hampton Inn in Linden, New Jersey. This is a little restaurant that seems to do a large take out business as well. We walked in and saw the dough being tossed behind the counter and it smelled wonderful! There is a fairly nice sized seating area. We were welcomed and waited on right away. The food was extremely fresh - it was brought out as it was cooked - a few dishes at a time so everything was hot & wonderful. My husband and son ordered the freshest and tastiest Stromboli's we have ever seen. My youngest son ordered a cheese pizza. He was raving about how good it was so I tasted it - I was shocked that a plain cheese pizza could taste so good! I had the antipasto salad and even that was the best I have ever had. My husband also order the garlic knots and loved them. We saw the "Fried Oreos" on the menu and since there were 4 of us and there were 4 per order we just had to try them. They were wonderful! Who would have thought? If you go there - you must try the "Fried Oreos!" Unfortunately, we live in Michigan, but if we are ever in the area again - we will be back!

Tony and his staff are the BEST!!!!! The pizza is good but the eggplant parm is fantastic. I ordered the dish where it is rolled up in ricotti (forgot the name) and it was sooooo good. The garlic knots are a great side as well. The restaurant is always clean. Not only do they have good food but Tony gives back to the community and that makes me want to support this great establishment every chance I get.

I recently ate dinner here with a few friends while in town. The restaurant is easy to find, but parking is limited. We ate here late night, mid week and the restaurant itself was relatively empty. The bar was hopping though. We were seated quickly. The staff were nice and helped with recommendations. Service was a little slow considering how empty it was. The restaurant was clean and there was lots of seating space. The menu is fairly large and there is certainly something for everyone. The shrimp, chicken, fish and pasta entrees were all good and the prices were reasonable. It was a low key dining experience with good food. I'd recommend stopping in. I will be back to try some new meals!

La Campagnola is a gem of a restaurant, with some of the best Italian food to be found in New Jersey. Tucked away in Kenilworth's industrial zone, la Campagnola's outward appearance does no justice to the wonderful menu inside. The owner and staff are friendly and very professional -- the waiters recite the day's menu from memory and can make informed recommendations. While the specials (ex, mussels in brandy cream sauce) are mouthwatering, the standard menu (ex, linguine alla vongole) is solid and well done. All the parmagiana dishes are excellent, so is the chicken La Campagnola. The filet mignon, when available, is perfectly done. The menu tilts toward seafood (scallops on risotto, various shrimp dishes, salmon, etc) but really everything is done quite well. The chef/owner worked for many years at a famous Italian restaurant in Jersey City and he knows the palate of his customers. La Campagnola is a hidden treasure.

The pizza is what they are known for, and I wanted to try it. The thin crust was carefully done,but the overall flavor was just average, I thought. Everything was ok but not amazingly so- typical bar interior, friendly staff, semi- cold beer, but the kitchen was slow and all the tables were waiting. My pizza took more than an hour.Prices were slightly on the high side: salad, pizza, two beers and with tip youâre hitting $50. Free parking 2 hrs in city garage across the street.

We decided to do Pizza and salad for dinner with another couple. They said Santilla's pizza was the best in New Jersey. Maybe it's the best for out-of-towners, who do't know what pizza should taste like. We ordered two medium size pizzas with vegetables. We paid $67! The crust was burned, the pizza was boring, they were skimpy with the veggies. I WOULD NEVER WASTE CALORIES EATING THIS PIZZA AGAIN, EVEN IF IT WAS FREE! Who voted for this place.....there is some seriously yummy pizza places in MJ, but this one is NOT it>

Enjoyed dinner here for birthday celebration...Restaurant is small but comfortable and location in center of town with a parking lot located behind restaurant, made for easy access. Server was friendly and attentive to table. Dinner consisted of appetizers of eggplant rollatini, shimp in garlic sauce, Brie cheese and fruit platter and artichoke with garlic sauce..all delicious, crabcake appe was small sized for price.. For dinner we enjoyed the pork chop, steak, shrimp dinner ..But only issue would be the dessert and coffee prices ..abit pricey..$10.50 for A piece of tiramisu ..and a small portion at that..Cappuccino was good but at $5.95 a cup..pass on dessert/coffee.!!

You can order the tasty traditional Italian entrees such as Marsala, Parm and standard pastas but they have an extended menu where there are many entrees not normally seen locally. Shrimp with Broccoli Rabe, Seafood Canollini, Short Ribs with Risotto, Italian Stuffed Sole. To be honest we have never had the pizza, we are spoiled by another local institution.
