When my husband and I have a "date night" I like finding restaurants that feel a little different--that have something special about them. Omar's Carriage House was a wonderful find. We arrived early and parked in their small parking lot. Inside we found a homey, very colorful, yet somewhat elegant atmosphere. Very unique. The service was very good. After taking our drink orders, our server brought us some warm, crusty rolls with herbed butter. Only self-control prevented me from eating them all up, but I wanted to save room for dinner. We started with salads, which were quite flavorful (and not full of cheese and croutons). Then my husband had the paella, which he liked. He said the seafood all tasted fresh. I had the potato-crusted flounder, which was simply delicious--crunchy on the outside and moist and flaky on the inside. It was a large piece of fish so I didn't even finish the fingerling potatoes that came with it. I did however eat the vegetables that came with it--asparagus, carrots and tomatoes--because they were well prepared. After a refreshing sangria and my meal, I had no room for dessert so I can't comment on them. I liked this restaurant and would recommend it.

This past weekend my wife and I were joined by another couple and met there for dinner. I cannot begin to describe just how perfect an evening we enjoyed. Our server is a local/regional/national treasure...she could not have been any better. She was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and absolutely spot on with her recommendations. Her description of one of the fish dish specials resulted in two orders. All throughout the meal she was attentive while not being overbearing or obtrusive. The food was simply amazing! Well prepared and served, we could not have asked for a better meal. The wine list was compact yet varied and delicious. All in all, a perfectly fantastic dinner and evening.It has been a while since my wife and I last dined there. I can assure you that we will be doing so with more regularity in the future.YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!! PREPARE TO BE AMAZED!!!

We always enjoy our no frills visit here and leave full, satisfied, and without buyers remorse. Food is reasonably priced, full-sized and quick. Staff is friendly. Seating is limited. Tasty vegetarian options. Loved the various turkey and chicken sandwiches. Manager gives us tips on what is outstanding at their sister restaurant Clementines.

This was the second time my husband & I dined at this restaurant. We had early reservations before a performance at the local opera house on a Friday night. Certainly did not disappoint. Holly, our server was personable, knowledgeable about the menu selections, and made drink suggestions which enhanced our dining experience. The menu offerings were varied and unique. Always a surprise are the appetizer and entree specials. I would highly recommend this restaurant in downtown Norfolk for a truly pleasant dining experience.

Went for lunch. Such a unique place, tables tucked all around in a store basically. Service was great, food yummy. After eating stop and shop inside or go outside in the garden nursery. We picked up some plants too, reasonably priced.
