Been to both locations now for dinner and I havenât been disappointed. This time in Rancho Bernado on a Monday night around 6pm. Not too many others in the restaurant, however there were a steady stream of take out orders taking place. Papad to start with and then Murg Mahkni for my entree were excellent. Service was also excellent and staff were very pleasant and courteous. Good experience all around.

I was staying at the Courtyard Marriott in Rancho Bernardo a few days ago. Fancying some Indian cuisine, I went to the don't desk for recommendations. Passage to India was walkable: just go through Webb Park at the back of the hotel, past the Pearl Restaurant. Turn right on Bernardo. A brief 10 minute walk. The location is in a strip mall, opposite McDonalds. The dining room was dark, but well appointed. I ordered chicken tikka masala, with Kashmiri Pulao. A side order of plain naan completed the order. Wait staff were friendly and efficient. The food was tasty, with more than enough to take back to the hotel. Total cost was $30. Very tasty, interesting food. I was initially put off by the maraschino cherries on the rice. They were a little too sweet. Aside from that, the food was delicious with yeast-free (thin) naan. I was pleased with the experience. Just a warning. The dish was tasty but a little spicy. It was fine for me but if you're not into spicy food, ask for a mild version.

The food is excellent. The service is variable: sometimes absolutely excellent, sometimes subpar. Try the samosas (chana masala), chai, all the deserts are great. All the paneers are great. The specialty rices are divine. Take care ordering from GrubHub as the restaurant may be out of items that are not updated on GrubHub. During lunch time, order from the counter. During dinner time, order from the table...I learned this the hard way.
