Cookie Restaurant

The Restaurant is where the Cookie story began. December 2008 started off with the opening of a restaurant in Gryon, on your way to Alpe des Chaux and Solalex, that was trying something different to what was done at the time in the Swiss Alps. Cookie Restaurant, through the hand of David and his team, estabilished itself as the de-facto eating space in the Villars-Gryon area. After a 2 year hiatus from 2013 until 2015, and true to its roots, the restaurant has re-opened with Chef Enzo Gallego allowing customers to leave comments such as "the cuisson du poisson était magique!". Lunch or dinner, come and sample some the Alps' finest cuisine.

After the accidental death of the previous dynamic owner Dave from Australia the Cookie restaurants story continues now with Max, originally from New York, and his chef Frederic. Judging our first dinner it looks quite promising. Quite interesting menu from which we chose as starters a curry crab and a lentil salad. The curry crab with pasta was spicey and delicious. It would even make a great main dish if a slightly bigger portion. The lentil salad was equally good. Ostrich steak as main dish. A bit too red whilst I ordered medium, the meat was good. Very good and ample sauce. As well as a side of mousseline with mushrooms. The wine list is interesting and reasonably priced. As are the dishes. Good coffee. The restaurant is still the same and cosy as before. Service is very friendly and efficient. Great food and ambiance.

Chez Lacroix

We wanted to try this restaurant ideally situated right across the railway station. We were positively surprised by the great quality food, and the large variety (cheese meals, pizzas, meat, etc.). The service was also excellent, always courteous and contrary to what I had read, with a smile :-)
Beware however that prices are very high (like 10 francs extra for a mushroom sauce on top of an already very expensive meat!)

While this is slightly off the beaten path, it is worth a detour. It is located in a beautiful valley with a spectacular view of the Mirroir de Argentine in an area perfect for hiking. The family run restaurant provides a charming setting, good service and lots of good food. Try their local specialties including home made tartes.
It does close several days a week so check in advance, because when it is open, it pays to make a reservation.

La Grange

Family owned and family run in the heart of the Village. The italian restaurant in the heart of the village. Menu changes every 3 weeks, we offer Lunch and Dinner every day closed on Sunday evenings and all day Monday (bank holidays and school holidays open 7 days a week). Can host up to 30 clients inside and in Summer we offer a generous Terrace / garden with similar capacity. Not only a great choice to lunch and dine while vacationing, but thanks to the beautiful train ride from Lausanne and/or Montreaux it is a great destination for a daily trip to the beautiful Les Diablerets Village.

Excellent service by staff and the warm hospitality of owner Giovani. The trendy upscale aesthetic is a pleasant break from the otherwise exclusively Swiss restaurant set.
We dined here twice as a family of four, very pleased on both occasions. The wine (Italian of course) was quite good and reasonably priced for the quality.
The menu is comprised of a few pairings of pasta with mains, along with pairing suggestions. Homemade venison tagliatelle followed by a perfectly cooked filet of beef, by example. If you require an extensive menu, or have picky eaters in your party, this may not be the best restaurant choice. Personally I like a small menu, which is seasonal and changes every few weeks. Desserts also lovely.
My only very minor nitpic is that the order is input directly into an iPad... It just takes a bit of the romance out of the experience with this invasion of technology at the dining table.
Over the course of two dinners, I feel quite comfortable in recommending this restaurant to anyone looking for a chic fine dining experience in the greater Les Diablerets region.

This former stable / barn converted into a restaurant is lovely both in summer (lovely wide Terrace outside, accessible by foot or car) and in winter (cosy inside, accessible by foot or on skis).
The menu is varied, with a number of options for vegetarians (not only salads). A great choice is the cassolette de champignons with rösti and salad.
Good local wines also on offer.
Staff are welcoming, and the restaurant is dog friendly and child friendly - there are quite a number of farm animals on site providing entertainment for both children and adults.
Reservation is advisable.

An authentic no nonsense small restaurant on the slopes. Accessible for non skiers by the mountain train. Since some years the restaurant is well known for its excellent roesti. We drank local white wine as an aperitif, nice dry wine. We lunched on emincé de veau zurichoise, Geschnetzelttes, with roesti. Very good indeed. The roesti, an ample portion, is simply deliciously crispy. A glass of local red whine was good. Desserts were delicious, walnut cake and a very good meringue. Excellent coffee.
Service is efficient and very friendly. Prices are ok. Reservations are necessary. We will certainly be back.

The views from this location are spectacular, the service was generally good. We ordered the pumpkin coconut curry soup and Veal Sausages with Fries. The meals arrived quickly. The pumpkin soup was very good, but the fries looked like they may have been sitting for a while before being served and sausages were only just warm. Overall a good place for a quick place for a meal when skiing.
