Cafe, Deli providing freshly prepared meals and snacks from locally sourced produce.

This is an exquisite deli. The food is always fresh, tasty, healthy and prepared with love. The range of salads and vegetarian options is fantastic and the aubergine lasagne has a real tangy flavour. There are great take-away and eat-in choices, and the menu is a little different. One can really experience the commitment to high-quality ingredients and careful preparation. Gerard's cuisine is to be savoured.
The porter cake, Cordal cheese and Ballymac are to be recommend.
This is a small deli, and if passing by you might miss it, so keep an eye out. You will be pleased. Take the time to enjoy it.

I visited Castlemaine in September 2013. When I called to Jack Duggans I was very disappointed, there was no atmosphere, the barman /owner was outside the bar drinking a pint and watching american X factor. The guinness was not very good. The only food available was re heated frozen pizza. The pub appears to have been redecorated sometime in the 70's and not touched since then. Unfortunately the village of Castlemaine suffers from the same lack of interest tourism which is a shame as it is an ideal location for exploring this part of kerry.

I took my mom out in Castleisland recently and our destination for dinner was Cons bar and Grill. Geraldine was out charming host and waitress. I'm not that confident with Seafood Chowder normally as it can very heavy and creamy...but not this. A generous mix of fresh fish were presented in a most delicious broth, it looked amazing and tasted delicious. I must go back for that again. For mains my mom had duck and I had lamb chops. Again this locally produced food was generous in helping and fabulous in taste.

I can't wait to go back. Boyfriend who is a chef and very picky also loved it, five stars from us .
