Hier haben wir genau den Harz-Charme gefunden, den wir aus unserer Jugend kannten und zum Mittagessen auch haben wollten. Das war nicht nur authentisch, gemütlich und super nett, sondern die Karte bietet auch eine Reihe an regionalen Spezialitäten. Einfach so, wie es sein soll, immer gerne wieder.

The menu is like many of the restaurants in thuis part of the world: lots of schnitzels, deer and pork for very reasonable prices. But in the Parkhouse the Schnizels are very greasy and very salty. The portions are large, but not very good. The waiter is friendly, but someone should tell him that it is no longer considered a capitalist revisionist crime to use a deodorant.

Seit dem letzten Besuch von mir vor drei Jahren hat sich hier einiges geändert.Ein kleines gemütliches Restaurant wie im Internet beschrieben: schönes Ambiente mit familiärem Wohnzimmerflair. Sowohl das Lokal als auch die Toiletten waren sauber.Wir waren mit 8 Männern nach einer anstrengenden Wandertour bei der kleinen Hexe zu Abend essen. Wie empfohlen haben wir vorab reserviert und unsere Speisen telefonisch vorbestellt. Obwohl wir ein wenig skeptisch waren, wegen der vorherigen Bewertung sowohl hier als auch bei Google, dass das Steak nicht gut sei, haben vier von uns es doch probiert und waren sehr positiv überrascht. Wir hatten asiatisch (2x Bratnudeln und 2xThai-Curry mit Huhn) und deutsch bestellt, wobei vier von uns das Rumpsteak (2x medium und 2x fast durch) bestellt hatten. Das Essen war frisch zubereitet und kam wie vorab bestellt mit den korrekten Garpunkten an den Tisch. Man hätte doch bei nichtgefallen reklamieren können.Die freundliche Bedienung hat uns darauf hingewiesen, falls was nicht in Ordnung sei, sollten wir dies auch direkt sagen. Die Getränkepreise waren vollkommen angemessen und nicht zu teuer. Dass man hier nicht mit Karte zahlen konnte, tut auch keinen Abbruch, da jeder immer etwas Bargeld in der Tasche haben sollte.Hier lohnt sich auf jeden Fall ein Besuch!

I think the manager is socially involved. There are waiters of different skin colors here who come from different places in the world. Great to see that these people are employed. It was good to stay on the terrace. The kitchen is very basic, but the food and wine is good and you pay a fair price. By far not a top restaurant, but very cozy and honest.

Highly recommended! Little place on the side of the road Great parking jopposite.A super cheap, eatery, with excellent service. The man spoke Dutch to us when he saw the number plates. He was chatty & very pleasant but super respectful in the way that Germans in the service industry excel at.The schnitzels were excellent. Rast house style is fabulous; with a perfectly fried egg over/in/with onion & bacon served with the ubiquitous & always delicious bratkartoffeln - more baconEven the wasps were well behaved. Hovering politely & going away.I didn't realise nudeln can mean any kind of pasta. So I got fusili (which I didn't eat), I didn't like the vinegar & tomato taste in the mushroom sauce, the portion of fussili was huge but too soft & over cooked for me but the schnitzel gets top marks and the side salad was very good.service was quick even though he was on his own and all the outside tables were full. We were very hungry, tucked straight in and were finished before I thought to take a photo. Which has to be the highest recommendation,

New nicely decorated wooden restaurant with high ceilings. Very cosy. And the kitchen is also very good. We ate here delicious thick tomato soup and a Schnitzel with mushrooms. The afternoon tea (or coffee) is also great with delicious fruit tarts.

This is a very friendly place and low key. Value for money. Had a very nice curry wurst here. Friendly staff and also possible to buy drinks to go since no shops where open.

A True Chef in the Kitchen and great service.All used products are fresh, nothing from a can or box. Seasonal Wild comes from the area. Nice salad-barNot to much fancy stuff, just good food and great taste. Prices are on the lower side for what you get and the menu is good. Mostly grill but also other choices. Atmosphere is cosy, you feel at home straight away.This is my place to go all the time when I visit Altenau.

Food was lovely, prices are bit higher but the setup is great, and looks like a great place to stay in. Staff was not too friendly and not really interested in providing good customer service. They serve food only inside and not on the terrace. Dog friendly.
