Nice little neighborhood place, typical Parisian. This is a small lively restaurant on a main avenue, a little crowded, and noisy, service a little rushed. But excellent food. I had the Dorade fish dish, with fresh vegetables, delicious. My friend had a rather large piece chicken that was equally good. Friendly, nice atmosphere. Very good

Poor to average food. Frites were worse than McDonald’s and had freezer burn. Steak au poivre was a lousy cut of meat.

If you really want to eat good burgers, go to this place.Hands down the best burger I ever had in my life!We got to this place around noon, the place was packed but we were seated quickly. It has a nice French atmosphere, but not tourists-french.The menu is simple, with a nice burger selection at really good prices. All the burgers comes with small salad and fries. They are VERY generous with the toppings, and the mayonnaise sauce on the side is heaven! So if you want to eat the best burger in the world (yes, world!) go there, you will not regret it! The staff was really friendly, and if you don't speak french they have an english menu :)I would definitely go there again! I'm really happy we've found this place.

We chose this restaurant for dinner after a trip up the Tour Montparnasse having seen the reviews online. We were not disappointed, the restaurant is off the beaten track so not many tourists, mainly locals. The staff were welcoming and friendly - happy to assist in English. Food was delicious - I recommend going at the weekend when there are extra specials on! Moderately priced for the food and service received. Around 130 euro for 4 courses including cheese, very nice wine and coffee. We would definitely return if in the area!

Family restaurant, a true hidden gem. Dishes are bistro style, as you would imagine a french grandma cooking.Classic, simple presentation and the flavours are all there.Didn't try anything I didn't enjoy. The selection of wines offered are basic, but perfect with the food. The owners are a friendly couple who speak very nice English and can have a chat if you're willing. The decor is great and you feel like you're in someone's living room. Desserts are all homemade and tasty too. Prices are mid-range, but worth it for the quality and atmosphere. I will try and visit every time I'm in Paris.

First of all this place is in a walking distance if you are staying at Novotel or IBIS at portd'orleans area. The service is top notch and staff is friendly - make their best attempt to translate menu in English and give their recommendation. They have choices for vegetarians tooThe menu keeps changing but food was great- had a fish tartare on a bed of lentils, followed by Salmon in full sauce and Tiramisu for desert. Can't complain about anything. In Paris there are many good restaurants but if you are tired or don't want to travel far then look no further than this place

Aux Enfants Gates

This hole-in-the wall restaurant, elegantly decorated in blue, white and red, is a short (approx 15 min) walk from the catacombs, through a charming neighborhood, pedestrian market included. If you're looking for an upscale, delicate, delicious and friendly restaurant, you can't do better. Our waiter, Fabian, saw that our French was terrible, and made sure, with good humor and jokes tossed in, that we understood everything we were about to order. Since we went for lunch, there were only two other tables seated for lunch, and together, we built a rapport that made our lunch even more special. I cannot recommend it more highly. We look forward to returning to Paris, and AUX Enfants Gates! (Not LES Enfants Gates! that's a different restaurant!)

Le Jeroboam

Reviewed By scottbY6943XV

We go to the Vanves flea market every Saturday (and sometimes Sunday) when in Paris and after a morning of searching through the manettes (cases of "stuff" from house clearing), we look for a nice restaurant for lunch. Almost by chance, we found the Jeroboam which is discretely located on Rue Didot a few blocks north of the market. We have visited most of the restaurants in the area and up until now, our favorite was nearby, but was disappointing the last time. We decided to try something new and are we ever happy we did! We should have, but did not reserve, however, we were welcomed. We were a bit hesitant to be shown to the basement, however, even on the main floor, the restaurant is not flooded with light and the two seating areas in the basement are perfectly fine - perhaps a bit quieter, but still pleasant. In any case, the main floor was completely full and by the time we left, the basement had many tables filled. No tourists, but maybe not to be expected in the heart of the 14th arrondissement. We had a really nice, friendly server (serveuse?) that explained the daily specials, gave my Swedish friend a short lesson in French - in a nice way and made us feel very welcome. The daily menu was quite nice, with some items on the chalkboard not available, but the substitutes were fine - who could complain about a smoked salmon salad or grilled swordfish instead of tuna. A nice amuse bouche - crispy cheese and what seemed like crushed shortbread made into small rounds, The salads were very good and generous, served on a slate. We had the swordfish with a fantastic drizzle of pesto and our friends had magret de canard with a really nice cheesy sliced potato stack. All were quite happy with the meal.Wine by the glass is very reasonable, generously poured and many possible selections. Highly recommended

We own a charming and authentic bistro from 1900 and we simply offer fresh products from "le marche" that our Chef Martin de los Santos Cal puts together to create very tasty French cuisine. French and world cuisine because we litterally are globe trotter

We were very excited to try the food after getting a reservation at our first Michelin-starred restaurant. The service was terrific, great staff. The appetizers were a bit of a downer unfortunately, we got veal tartare and andouille dumplings, and neither was particularly good. The dumplings tasted a bit off, not like any andouille that I've tasted before. We sent back the tartare partway through, it was a bit too chunky and sinewy for tartare, but the staff was very good about letting us switch it out for the vegetables which we enjoyed. The main dishes of sea bass and lamb we're very good, and the deserts were excellent. Overall a good but not great experience, especially considering the level of the restaurant.
