Aux 3 Ours

Vegetarian galettes with olive & balsamic oils and a bottle of Breton cider.Very friendly service. Whilst the Aux 3 Ours only opens for lunches, the proprietor is prepared (with advance notice) to open in the evening for a private group of 6 or more, offering the same menu. The free wi-fi service worked without difficulty.

Such a shame, we arrived for lunch on our first day. There were 7 of us (3 children and 4 adults) - we sat down and within minutes, a shockingly rude male chastised us for not waiting to be seated. He was extremely rude and offensive and I have never experienced such shameful service - it seemed to be because we were English! One of our party apologised, although this wasn't at all necessary - there were skis left near our table and he was quick to try to blame us for leaving them in the incorrect place, however they weren't ours. The meal was good and the other members of staff were pleasant... perhaps the waiter should think about a change of occupation? Aoutch... so rude... i'm so sorry something like that occured to you... we had a lovely team last winter, it don't look like us... hope you'll come again and give us an other try to change your mind <3

L'Ancolie

We have eaten at this restaurant for 4 years now on our chalet hosts night off. We have been happy until this year. The waitress didn’t really understand English, which resulted in a few things wrong with the meal. This is understandable as we were eating in France, so appreciate that there can be some difficulty in translation... but there was no apology for this and she looked like we were a bother to her and she was very unhappy to serve us. At one point when I asked for the fries that she had forgotten as a side dish, she did bring them but practically threw them at me! We have always had a lift back to the chalet (which is in the far end of La Rosiere) in their mini bus, but tonight they tried to encourage us to take the public bus, but after spending €500 and with young children we said we wouldPrefer the minibus. After waiting for 10 minutes, the waitress then said they had “lost” the mini bus so we had to walkA most disappointing experience, and we will be finding a new restaurant for next year....Dear Louise, for the translation excuse us because it's true she does not speak very good French, but for the bus I find you very hard because it is true that tonight the bus was left for another people and she didn't know. After you oblige us to make 3 rounds for you because you was 14 people, while the village bus pass in 5 minutes and you could take it all at once. I find it really hard and totally rude.Kinds regards

Les Marmottes

We had dinner at the Marmottes on a week day. Reservations were made but it was not a full house. Service was not too fast but very friendly and English speaking. The cheese fondue was tasty and kindly priced. Local wines were pretty good and at a very reasonable rate. Probably one of the better places in La Rosiere to have dinner. Would go again

A visit here with our daughter for a hot chocolate and a crepe...service was a okay - you queue at the bar and we were lucky enough to enjoy the sun terrace. The views are fab mind you...The hot chocolate was mediocre at best...other mountain restaurants served better ones! The crepe was fine though the cutlery supplied (plastic) just snapped in our daughter's hand when cutting the crepe :-(Overall, there are better mountain restaurants (if you can get to them) though this one serves the purpose.

L'Estam

Character - tremendous (restaurant and proprietor);Food - thoroughly well prepared with ample portion sizes;Service Quality - impeccable;Wine List - healthy range of fine wines (both Savoyade and other areas)Our youngsters particularly enjoyed the waiter's trick of dipping his finger into the meths, alighting his finger first then lighting the burner under the fondue! We (parents) particularly appreciated the complimentary and voluntary replacement bottle of wine when the first was knocked over quite accidentally by the waiter. [nb. We'd already consumed most of the original]Despite a reservation mix-up between our holiday rep and the restaurant, we were warmly welcomed and comfortably accommodated on one of the restaurant's busiest weekday nights - ie. Esprit chalet hosts' 'night off'. [nb. We were not staying with Esprit, so the restaurant was OUR choice rather than any promotion.]From reviewers who regularly consume fine dining in the UK's main cities, l'Estam would happily be included on our recommended list.

Nice restaurant, both for a quick pizza as for a more extensive diner. Very Nice wine menu, fresh veggies and most of all: home Made desserts. No industrial baked oil soaked cakes here. Raclette and fondue savoyarde are of course in the menu. Friendly and professional service. There’s a bowling alley attached to the restaurant.

The fondue was great, plenty of bread and cheese for two, added the meat too but this was overkill, nevertheless tasty. Staff are really lovely and speak English for those who don't. I'd recommend this for an evening meal, suggest you book though as it got busy by 7.30 pm. Good wine list and they do a Menu du Jour.

Le Genepi

Booked Le Genepi for dinner on Christmas Day with my wife and older teenage children, as we had such a lovely meal on a previous visit. Again, the food was excellent and the service attentive and friendly but discrete. We enjoyed a very leisurely and relaxed dinner with ginger bread and olives whilst we decided on mains of a surf and turf dish and a cheese fondu. A taster of desserts was followed by a glass of Genepi. A brilliant end to Christmas Day so much so that we also booked for our end of holiday meal. Helen and the team organised the hot rock that we had requested and a further memorable evening was had at Le Genepi.
