As older foodies, we've seen trends come and go, and one that seems to be coming again is French food, about which I have mixed feelings, as it can be heavy and has more delicate flavours than we've become used to with Asian-fusion/Modern Australian food.However, Hell of the North did a lovely job. My pork loin was beautifully cooked, though the sauce diable was a little gentle in flavour. The pommes frites side was just right. Not too chunky, but not straw-like either. And the brussel sprouts side was tasty too. My husband's Tarte Tatin special was near perfection.We also liked the wine choices, and the staff's knowledge in advising us. The ambience is cosy, and not too noisy. The prices are reasonable for the quality.

Back in Melbourne for a visit, we definitely had to go eat at the Roule Galette again. Our meals were as fabulous as in the previous year. :-) Perfectly prepared galettes (= the savoury variety made with buckwheat) and crepes (= the sweet ones), friendly and prompt service, pleasant atmosphere. Absolutely a great french rerstaurant.After a superbe and warm welcome by restaurant owner ( genuine welcome, and genuine care ), you will be able to seat and relax in this greatly and smartly designed restaurant, with high ceiling, mezzazine ...Menu a la Carte offers a good variety of french most popular dishes.The wine selection is great also, and reasonnably priced.You will be served by french waitresses who are extremelly charming.So, if looking for a chic french experience, dont go any further.2 car parks just 1 minute away from restaurant are avalaible.I recommend :Boeuf Bourguignon : superbe !( marinated beef, served with red wine french sauce )Bonjour,Thanks for your feedback and review. Bistro Thierry delivered a great experience for our special occasion. Met warmly at the door, we were shown to a good table and assisted with some parcels and jackets. We had actually looked at the online menu (both food and wine) and decided what we wanted, so ordering was easy. Drinks were served quickly and with friendly efficiency. The fit out of Thierry's is something of a draw card in itself - certainly takes you to Paris! Our food was top quality - particularly the lamb shoulder: melt in the mouth texture. I can see why it is rated so highly, and would certainly support that.We are delighted to hear you enjoyed your BT experience. Chez Olivier at its new location is really singing! Our experience was great from beginning to end. Service is efficient and timely and very friendly (all the waiting staff had a smile ready). An interesting menu: we had a goats cheese entre wrapped in filo surrounded by a light salad, followed by the confit of duck. Both were delicious and well balanced. The wine list was adequate, although I would have expected to see a few more Burgundy wines on the list. No table cloths but it did have cloth napkins. The restaurant was very popular on the night we were there, and rightly so. A top destination.

We enjoyed a very delicious brunch here this morning, from a small but interesting menu. The lunch & dinner menus also looked very interesting and I hope to get back here to explore the food offering further.Service was excellent, from the moment we entered until we left. My coffee was a step above the norm too.Well priced and a fascinating space, well worth the visit.

A small, but outstanding restaurant with some interesting ideas on modern French food. The table service was top-notch and whilst the food wasn't cheap, it represented good value for money. Wine selection was also first class and suggestions made by the waiter regarding which wines to have with our meals were considered and worthwhile. This establish is well worth a visit- go ahead and book it!
