Generous portions. Starters of soup and fried prawns where large and soup come with rice. Cambodian and French menu. Not overpriced. Chicken in wine and cream sauce with German spritzle (fried noodle pasta) was nice and came with salad, as did cafe del beef (a bit chewy). Fruit and chocolate fondue large enough to share. Wine from 3.50 dollar a glass. Huge local beer jug 4.50 dollar. Khemer coffee ok. Nice enough building with outside seating. 32 dollar total for 2.Thank you for enjoying a full meal at our place and taking time to review it. According to your meal description, I remember you came yesterday evening, jan 2nd but had the small sofa terrace table, sorry we didn't have a more decent table available.Booking is recommended.Even a quick visit or a whatsapp call a bit in advance can help your comfort and our organization. Please allow me to precise: House wine is an Argentinian Shiraz Malbec (Mixtus) which I serve since 2014 at $3,00 a glass.I as well offer a Sicilian Organic Nero d'Avola at $4,50 and a nice choice of wine by the bottle. Cambodia draft beer at $1, the mug is $4,00.My 200g "Beef Steak Beurre Café de Paris" is cut from the local beef filet which I order/book in advance from a Cham butcher in Kampot, tasty and quite tender compared to any other beef you can find served for $6,00 with Salad and Side Dish: french fries, or mash potatoes, or home made spätzlis as you had, or even rösti ($1 extra) Now I also offer a Beef Filet (Tournedos) from Dan Meat, famous German Butcher from Phnom Penh who chooses his beasts and ages well the meat... Normally you can leave your teeth at home, it melts on your palate!Served with a "Marchand de Kampot" sauce which is a variation on Marchand de vin, meaning schallots, green and black pepper, mushrooms in red wine and cream sauce! $9,50 200g, with salad and side dish choice. You can as well enjoy that sauce with our Fondue Bourguignonne too ($10,50/pers 200g Dan Meat Filet cube cuts you fry at your table with 4 sauces, side dish and salad). And what I call "Chicken Zürich Style" is as well based on a traditionnal Swiss dish: "Zürcher Geschneltzte" which is traditionally made with veal which is a bit too expensive to be able to serve that dish at $5,50 here. I can criticize our Khmer Coffee too: it comes from our excellent local roaster not far from my place, it's tasty, but my staff does it often too light same as they drink it, I love strong coffee... Having had a nice diner, your coffe has not been charged, as a Thank You.Our Expresso from the machine is quite appreciated: Mocca in which we add a part of Vietnamese beans making it strong, smooth and round in mouth. Being a coffee addict, I drink about 12 expresso in a day, I consider the machine to be my Private Luxury which I share with Guests ;-)Just an expresso is served at $1,00, again because I Love Coffee and one expresso is not enough to fulfill my own appetite. And yes, I am surprised you took a dessert as often people feel already full with only one main dish even without a starter, we serve generous portions! I confirm I could mention: "Enough for 2 people" on the menu about the Fruit Chocolate Fondue , made of dark chocolate which we season with a drop of rhum, drop of coffee and other "secrets"... $4,50,I think it looks beautifull and can fulfill chocolate lovers' palate. I allow myself to mention our Moelleux Chocolat (Lava Cake) which seems to be talked about and recommended even in neighbourg countries... Served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for $4,00Please accept again my Best Wishes for 2019, And Enjoy your trip to the Kingdom of Wonders, CedricNB: prices as on january 3rd 2018 with many not having changed since years, a light increase on some might happen as sourcing costs rise.

We waited in that restaurant without receiving a hello or getting even a eye contact from the only waiter working there for at least 15minutes (and only one other guest) We originally wanted to drink coffee and have a desert but changed our mind, walked to the cassier, asked for the brownie to take away, just to find out that he even is rude when taking the cash. Sad. We will have our coffee somewhere else.

Stopped at this place in the early evening to watch the sunset from the waterside. Saw the special menu has crab burger, prawn burger and prawn pad thai for just a few dollars, so we ordered all three dishes to share. All the food was excellent, tasty and fresh, plus draught beers were just $0.75. And of course the wonderful sunset view from the crab market is priceless. A lovely experience.

Situated right on the seaside, this is a unique spot. Organised and run by a french couple, it offers very good french bread, baked in wood oven. Jade is the name of their beautiful daughter. Everything around is very well placed, very inspired and artistic too. Good coffee. A big choice of terrines all day long. Good music, good vibes, great ambience to spend many hours there. Right behind Kep Market (and Sok Man Palace), we enjoyed as much as we could. Lardon and brioche every day. Every day different baked sweets. Very good Caipirinia drinks. A little bit expensive, compared to similar places. But then, very special too, as most of the things they offer you cannot find elsewhere.

We ate here both days we were in town. The owner is so sweet and personable, and she makes everything fresh! So good! Lots of good vegetarian options (Nepalese, Khmer, and western dishes) and my husband loved the momos. Definitely go for the Nepalese food, so tasty. We had great smoothies too. Good sized serving for the price. By far the best food and value we found in Kep.

Chankiri Restaurant

We arrived on 15th June 2018 945pm after a 3hr car rite from PP airport, was tired and hungry. Luckily the restaurant was opened and food was ready almost immediately. Staff was patient and attentive, food quality was up to our expectation. The best part was the cocktail: better than many bars I have visited around the region. Breakfast was interesting: a selection of Asian/American/French, however we feel that the portion size for American and French selection can be a little more generous. Delightfully coffee was excellent. A quaint 10 tables French-Colonial tiles flooring with stone washed walls and caned chairs, complete with sea breeze through the open folding doors. Perfect setting for an over-worked stressed rat urbanite like us. Definitely will recommend my peersDear Richard,Thank you so much for rating us 5 stars here on TripAdvisor. I am glad you liked both the setup of our restaurant Chankiri as well as our food & drinks of course. We take food wastage very serious but we offer extra breakfast items for our hungry guests! Once again, thank you so much for visiting us and our team is looking forward to welcome you here again during your next visit in Kep.With best regards,Jonathan Manstein

The problem here is so many great reviews for the bar/restaurant and very few for the accommodation. The whole place is very attractive with a real eye for style, unfortunately there is no eye for cleaning. The room we stayed in was not serviced at all over our stay; beds unmade, bins not emptied, towels not replaced but hung over fence to air them, one bottle of water supplied the first night only, no fridge in the room. There was an issue with water supply our first night which meant the lavatory would not flush. We dealt with it the next morning. Showers are cold. On two occasions we used the bar none of three cocktails on the menu I asked for were available. Other than a board offering cold cuts/cheese and a request to order paella 24 hours in advance there was no sign of a menu. The bar/restaurant/lounge area would also benefit from a clean. Some of the armchairs have open box type armrests which are really dusty, table tops are stained and the lovely large lampshades have cobwebs. Thank you for the feedback. I believe I have also responded to your partners 2 similar reviews already so I won't repeat myself again too much here. We don't list the guest rooms through Tripadvisor - we use booking.com as you know (and where I have responded to your other review). The tripadvisor listing is for the bar lounge where we explain we don't have a full restaurant menu, we serve bar snacks and as you said, paella with 24 hours notice. The water pump was fixed as soon as possible and it is unfortunate that this coincided with your stay. The showers are hot as long as you press the orange button under the shower unit - apologies if this wasn't clear/explained to you. All details of the room facilities are listed fully on booking.com. We offer simple accommodation (which doesn't include fridges in the rooms or daily cleaning for stays less than 4 days) but we would have been happy for you to use one of the fridges in the kitchen if you'd asked us, or given you an ice box, given you more towels etc - we can normally help find a solution to most queries if we know about them at the time. Our bar is cleaned 6/7 days a week but with it being open and on the beach/seafront, we cannot avoid some dust/sand blowing in throughout the day and finally the lamps are too high to clean daily but I take on board that comment and will make sure that they are de-cobwebbed! (although the cobwebs do help keep bugs at bay :)I understand that it is disappointing when you are travelling to arrive somewhere and it not meet your expectations. However I would urge you also to read all the information carefully before booking, and also please give small businesses a chance to overcome any concerns when you are there by discussing them in person rather than saying nothing at the time and leaving multiple reviews. We want to make sure our customers are happy and that our service is of a high standard and generally we achieve this so I'm sorry that we didn't meet the bar for you and your partner. Best wishes.

La Baraka Lounge Bar and Restaurant

Reviewed By WaratahPastoralCo

I said this last year when we ate at this pizzeria and this time I mean it. 9 of us arrived 5pm for sunset (this is the Main attraction of eating at this strip of restaurants) and were closely followed by several other groups. We are told we can order pizza only as the chef doesn't arrive until 6pm. Not the end of the world but so much else we wanted to try with cheese platters, oysters, foi gras, salmon mousse etc all on the menu but... Not till 6pm. We ordered pizza which was average at best. The female staff was just plain surly same last year although the khmer chap who spoke English restored some order. They don't take credit cards cash only and atm nearby not working so it was suggested we drive across to the beach. No other solutions from the fabulously disinterested French owner . Well....yes...there was... The ever heplful Kim Ly restaurant cash advanced my card with a smile. There are other Italian pizza options that will get our business next time.
