Kearney's Drive-In

So this is a drive-in, no seating anywhere (not exactly true, they have a small bench around the back that can sit 2 people). I presume most people pick up and take it home or somewhere. We got there at a non-busy time so were able to eat (the weather was nice) at the closed off window .. Anyway, fun people! We ordered the special 4 regular dog (not the all-beef) pack which was $1 off the price .. not a bad deal. Since we are in North Carolina we had them "all-the-way" but you can choose either BBQ Slaw (it is in Lexington after all) or regular slaw or half-and-half (one dog each). That's what we did.We also ordered their signature "Kearney's Burger" -- to try out a burger. It's a half-pound burger with bacon, awesome pimento cheese, and a bit of mayo. Ordered it as a basket to get some fries (Krinkle Cut) and a drink. The dogs were "good" -- they are the red dogs similar to other joints around (and made famous at Martinville's Raceway). The chili was tasty -- but there wasn't a lot. We had a hard time deciding over the red or white slaw -- I rather liked them both but the red made the dog sweeter -- no idea why. They are both good! The fries were acceptable -- they were good Krinkle Cut fries (not my fave ..) not as good as Shake Shack (the only ones I wolf down) but certainly acceptable. The burger? OMG -- that was the winner! Charred crispy juicy patty with melty pimento and crispy bacon (and lots of it) .. This was the hit IMHO. I would go back absolutely for the burgers!Oh you can get all sorts of variations on the dogs or burgers of course -- basically almost anyway you want them (except Chicago dog style). They also have a nice looking breakfast sandwich menu that I bet is pretty good if the other food is any indication.

We needed a quick lunch. Biscuitville was on our route, so we tried it. We both had buttermilk pancakes and they were quite good. People around us liked their biscuits - I'd have tried one but they were all breakfast food. If breakfast food is on your agenda, I'd say it's worth a try.

I frequently visit this Subway, as it is conveniently located next to the nail salon I visit. Service is always attentive and the food is fresh and good. If you visit on Sunday after church, though, be prepared for a wait- it is very popular then! Join the SubClub rewards program, but don't forget to scan your card before you pay.

Certainly not a fine dining experience, but overall, with the speed and friendliness of service and quality of the offerings relative to the cost, definitely valuable. At this location they have on-line ordering for MTO and future scheduled pick-up times are available which makes it super convenient. The fact their a gas station/convenience store/MTO restaurant certainly cuts down on the number of stops to complete errands. This store is clean and has a high mark from the local health department. WiFi is free, TV's in the dining area, the dining area is segregated nicely from the store and has ample ports and plug-ins for charging etc. This location also has an area with sofas to hang out. Outside seating is also available with umbrellas if you prefer. Checking out inside is sometimes slow due volume.
