Stopped for lunch. Enjoyed the fish soup immensely. Tasty, delicate, filling. Went as part of a large part. Service was prompt and friendly. Enjoyed our meal.

Geitafell

Enjoy fresh Icelandic seafood in a pure Icelandic nature setting. We offer our guests the possibility to watch FIFA World Cup games on a big screen in a separate space from the main dining hall.

Went to this restaurant on my recent Icelandic Ring Road trip, and I have a really hard time describing it. The food was excellent. The fish soup was chock full of quality ingredients, and the trout was delicious (though the presentation was suuuuper rustic). Service was interesting. There were 4 people dining and 3 staff members and yet there was the sense that they were a little overwhelmed. But somehow that was incredibly charming?? It's a funny one. It's also quite expensive, even for Iceland. I'm chalking it up to being in a very rural area, rather than anything else.I think if you're trying to have an authentic Icelandic dining experience, you could do a lot worse. But, if you are expecting traditional Western quality of service, you may find this restaurant a little frustrating...

This restaurant is located in the Hotel Laugerbakki. Clean and contemporary, it offers a limited and moderately expensive lunch menu. Two of us got the daily soup - Mushroom - and two the prawn small plate. Everything was delicious. Service was shaken at first when outdated menus were given to us and we all ordered the $14 fish and chips. We were then handed “newly printed menus” with $35 fish and chips. When asked about the significant price increase, we were told it was a “different dish altogether”. Yeah, right. This the 4 stars. By the way, the hotel is immaculately clean as were the bathrooms. Great northern lights territory.
