Reasonably priced Michelin star restaurant with nice atmosphere and great food. We had the asparagus and octopus plates which were all excellent, well presented and with several other refined accompainments. Topped it off with the Grand Marnier soufflé. Unless you are a very picky eater, you can't go wrong in here if you got the budget.

We found out Bantu Chez Mattin by chance as we were staying just 5 mins along the same street for a 3 day break. Our host recommended this and also Maitinea - also worth a visit. We managed to get a table for our last night and on a Wednesday evening in September it was still full.The food is jus superb and worthy of all the reviewsWe had the millefeuille - layers of foie gras, smoked trout and thinly sliced green apple and also the Japanese ravioll stuffed with black pudding served with langoustine tails. Both delicious!For mains we had the turbot - served expertly by the waitress.Too full for desert.Despite what other reviewers have said about no English spoken, whilst the waitresses donât speak English the lady owner, who introduces the specials each evening, speaks perfectly good English and will help those having difficulty understanding the menus.Just canât recommend this more highly, one of the best restaurants Iâve been in!

Just popped in for lunch. Seemed quite busy. Smoked trout beautifully presented follows by Gambas with risotto for one and shoulder of pork with polenta for the other. All 10/10. Pudding very good also but getting full by then. All this with three glasses of wine for 68 euros!

We arrived to our accommodation tired and hungry and our hosts recommended Trinquet Pleka, only a short walk from Chalet Elisa. On realising our limited French the chef came out to personally explain the menu. We elected to have entree, main and dessert/cheese which all sounded fabulous. Chef said he would also bring us a small serve of lentil soup each which was yummy but filling.Our eyes were bigger than our tummies but there was no problem changing / reducing the order for our dessert/cheese course. The food was all beutifully fresh, local (Basque) or traditional (French) and the service was friendly and the courses arrived nicely spaced out. The place was filled with locals and the bar in the next room was busy and happily noisy. It is also possible to get simple fare including a hamburger but all made on site including the bread.

We have looked forward to this for a long time. It was closed when we were here last. Lovely restaurant, attentive staff. Good menu, but expensive. Great attention to detail, we had two starters, a main and desert. Starters were artichoke served in tempura batter, and, jambon sec with omelette and poached egg on top. Both excellent. The main was duck served with a delicious sauce. Pudding was ice cream and tiny chocolate cakes.GoodAfternoon AntoniaTrip and thank you for sharing your experience at the Auberge Basque. Saving grace here was the enthusiastic waitress who helped us with choosing our meals and was very friendly. Food was average, huge king prawns but with little flavour and squid well cooked as mains. Reasonably priced house wine was good value. Avoid the loo!

Bon accueil, établissement propre avec une carte sympa et une cuisine ouverte ou on vois ce qui est préparé.Bonne cuisine du terroir avec de bons produits, bien préparé, nous nous sommes régalés.Service un peu long, mais il y-avait du monde et le serveur était tout seul, dans la mesure ou nous avions le temps cela n'a pas été gênant.A essayez.

This is a great place to experience the Basque French rural area -- this is truly a local place supported by locals and not at all a tourist stop. The food is limited but is fresh and delicious. The place is clean and the service great.

This is simply a fantastic place. We went twice whilst on holiday and both times the welcome, service and food were exceptional. The staff are wonderful and the food fabulous. Highly recommended.

A culinary experience would not be complete without the perfect ambiance and atmosphere of the restaurant, and this is what Bakar Restaurante was offering me throughout my journey into Irun, Spain for the New Yearâs Eve of 2019. The restaurant is beautifully designed, it gives a homey feeling and the space just before the dining place allows visitors to dance and enjoy the dinner time with their lovely ones and families; and this is exactly what I did after the service for New Yearâs Eve dinner was finished. People were dancing and enjoying their time and the staffs of the restaurant were also joining us in the dance floor, William, the lovely head chef was dancing together with the others as we are singing and enjoying the traditional Spanish celebration way of eating grapes. The bartender, together with the head chef was also playing some groovy music to get the people to dance and mingle, ah.. did I say that William is a down-to-earth person who is lovely and is caring about the opinions of everyone about their experience starting from the point when they stepped into the restaurant until the end of the night? (morning, actually, we finished at around 5 in the morning). All in all, it was a very exhilarating experience from the start until the end; the savory and beautifully served food, the perfect ambiance and the lovely staffs. Would definitely come back again if I have the chance to travel back to the Basque country!
