Tasca La Tertulia

La Tertulia is a nice place in the center of La Laguna where you can enjoy a glass of wine or a beer with some spanish tapas or pintxos.

Now I make no secret of the fact that I like food, who doesn't eh...? I also like to explore new places and try new things and Tasca La Tertulia is no exception.I spoke with Poncho (the owner) about the exact meaning of the name as Google translate seems to think it means “Salon” but in reality what it means is to chat, debate, discuss and that's pretty much what you get to do while there. There's no pressure to vacate the table, no waiters hovering to take orders and the atmosphere is just relaxed and comfortable.Poncho greeted us and he'd reserved a table for us which was great and we were there with friends to chat, have some fun and enjoy authentic Canarian cuisine. There's a chalkboard (no menu) with that days specials and recommendations and Poncho helped us choose things that we could all dip into and enjoy. Again, no rush at all. Each plate was brought out separately and we each picked at it and enjoyed everything that was served.I can's speak highly enough about the atmosphere and service, truly fantastic and then there's the food...We started with a mixed plate of cheeses and meat which was great to start off with for a group as we could each try out different stuff, delicious. We followed that with Cheese covered in honey and Mojo Rojo and the photo we took of Chris trying to shovel it all down in one go pretty much sums up how nice that was.One of the plates we ordered was a variation on sausage egg and chips. I didn't manage to get a photo as it was gone in a flash but it was basically Chorizo sausage meat mixed with sauce and covered in sautéed potatoes and eggs. Delicious. The Tuna in Mojo Rojo with Canarian potatoes was delicious too. However, our favourite dish was the fillet steak and to call it simply “Fillet Steak” is a serious understatement. Sarah's father ran a butchers and even she was expressing her delight at the quality of the cut and how it was cooked. For me, a must !The desserts, like all the food is all prepared in house and the fig dessert we had was gone well before the Tarta de la Abuela (Grandma's Cake) which pretty much sums up that as-well.Not one plate went back with food on it and I think we could have happily spent another couple of hours there but like all good things they must come to an end.The coffee was also served with the same attention to detail. Really really nice to finish off a meal with a great coffee !So, if you're looking for authentic Canarian cuisine in an atmosphere that's relaxed with service that's as impeccable as the attention to detail then I would highly recommend La Tertulia.Something I cannot miss out though is La Laguna. You have to go, it's a fantastic place by day but by night it's just something else. We took a nice romantic stroll through what can only be described as “the old town” with cafes, bars, architecture to gloat over and beautiful surroundings. For us, the whole night was something to remember and we'll almost definitely take the time to go to Tasca La Tertulia again !

Muchas Muchas Gracias.I had such a great time entering randomly in that Gastrobar at the end of my 40th birthday. While the manager gave me kindly directions information I realised there were warm authentic spaniards inside. As they figured out it was a special day, the Manager offered me a birthday cake and clients some drinks. Staff were dancing. Not too mention: chocolate toffee crema, tenerife cheese, and jamon olive very tasty. I am sure they decided to close later than expected :)

This is a simple restaurant specializing in local cuisine. The food was really excellent and fantastic value. Overall the staff were friendly although the service was a little slow at the end as the restaurant had filled very quickly. We walked in without a reservation and there was no waiting time, however, given how busy they always seem to be reserving beforehand may be a good idea. This turned out to be the best meal of our holiday. Would recommend to anyone visiting La Laguna and would go back again.

We were told by the hotel this is the best restaurant in La Laguna an frankly I was going to title the review "pretentious rubbish" - but that would have been a bit harsh. The decoration is awful and the menus have a ridiculous colour coding with 14 allergens listed. The service is inept and the food is frankly just not very good.I had a decent cod but it was on a bed of dry potato and too-sweet onion; the burgers had decent meat but in buns that you would expect frozen in a 12-pack from a very cheap supermarket. Some decent ravioli had been fried (why?).Just not great.

I had previously eaten at this restaurant (about 3 years ago) so it was easy to decide again for a nice dinner. The service was even better than the first time and the food was simply excellent. We shared assorted croquettes and beef steak which was cooked just right. The three sauces - alioli, mojo rojo and roquefort were a delicious supplement. I also had the soup of the day, which was a pumpkin cream soup with garlic spiced croutons and aged gouda cheese. Everything was perfect and reasonably priced.

I booked this restaurant for my birthday dinner on a mini break to Tenerife with my nine friends. The staff really looked after us and the food was amazing. The 'racion' portions are generous which we loved.. but we slightly over ordered having 3 each!!! It was great to try so many of the fabulous dishes though xThanks a lot Lucy for your kindest review and for celebrating your birthday in our house. We hope to see you again.
