La Vieille Tour

If you want rustic food and large portions don't come to the Vielle Tour, but if you appreciate the subtle use of flavours and beautifully presented food then this could be for you. I would have given this 5 stars if the desserts had been up to the standard of the excellent starters and main courses but this aside I would happily eat here again. The contempoary dining room is comfortable and the Service was very good. Good choice of local wines

Pleasant fare and a nice change from the Blois 'usuals'. The dreadful location on the corner of avenue de l'Europe means that only those with cars will visit. Shame.

La Scala Blois

On holiday in France, touring Loire Valley for the second time in two years. We decided to give this restaurant a try as it was close to our hotel.Bullet point our experience:-Slow, took over an hour to serve three pizzas and a bowl of tagliatelle.Inattentive; starter plates not cleared away promptly, 20 plus minutes.Inaccurate; tried to serve three dishes we hadn't ordered, the member of staff (Steve) insisted these were our order, and was verbally rude to my wife over his mistake.Inflammatory; when we ordered a second bottle of Prosecco, our waiter (Steve, picture attached)popped the cork next to my ear and left the bottle on the table, not in the ice bucket and failed to refill our empty glasses. Finally, having requested the bill we were kept waiting for another 15 minutes for the bill to be presented, ended going to the counter to settle.Quality; On the plus side, the pizza's were as you'd expect, so no complaints. You get a better service by ordering takeaway from this establishment. On balance, I always ask the question, would we ever return if visiting Blois? One word, an emphatic; non!I have no doubt I will receive on of their "template" patronising responses. No matter, I'm sure the local tourism office will be interested to learn about how one of their town's restaurants treat visitors and guests with disdain.I explained to (Steve) about our experience who brushed our experience off because he said they were busy, and proceeded to share a joke at our expense in French with his colleagues as we left.My advice would be go to the centre of Blois as we did a year ago, there are several more deserving establishments to spend your money in.
