Reviews on Contemporary food in Knokke-Heist, West Flanders Province, Belgium. Knokke-Heist (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌknɔkəˈɦɛi̯st]) is a municipality in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Heist-aan-Zee, Knokke, Duinbergen, Ramskapelle and Westkapelle. On January 1, 2006 Knokke-Heist had a total population of 34,063. The total area is 56.44 km² which gives a population density of 603 inhabitants per km². Knokke-Heist is located along the North Sea in a polder area on the Belgian border with the Netherlands. It is Belgium’s best-known and most affluent seaside resort.

Nice restaurant but small, friendly staff. The food is very tasteful, we took the menu and this was excellent. Only downpoint which in the end spoiled the meal was the waiting time for the dessert, this took between 45 min. and an hour, i was already planning to leave without dessert.

Knokke being a upper-class beach city, dinner options are pretty much split between high-end and tourists traps. De Savoye has a central location, close to the Lippenslaan. It is familiy-owned from what I gathered.Dishes were quite subtle. I was happily surprised with the quality, although quantities were on the small side, not to say minimal. Service was friendly and even sometimes witty. The chef took a few minutes to come talk to us about some of the specialties as he walked around, hopping between tables.One thing struck me though, it's the patrons. All the clients were very classically dressed, typical of that good belgian bourgeoisie that likes to spend two weeks on the coast in the summer. Men in polo with blazers, grannies in Chanel with their tri-lingual grand-daughters and so on. I figured that De Savoye is especially tailored to cater this fancy society. A bit boring to watch after a while but I guess I was the one wrong fish in that bowl.Hartelijk dank voor de heel mooie beoordeling.Groeten De Savoye Ignace
