The hotel looks very new and is close to the historical centre of Garmische. I had a great room, which included a wardrobe with external access to air wet/damp/smelly clothes, a great idea. The room included a kitchenette and the hotel includes a small cafe/restaurant which provided a great dinner and breakfast. Breakfast is included in the tariff. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Free underground parking is available onsite.
Found this little gem when we stopped near the farmer's market, on the was to Zugspitze. The waitress didn't speak much English, but she was very kind and helpful - and we did our best with German.I ordered the weisswurst - it was amazing, and perhaps the best pretzel we had on our trip. I came, as per tradition, with a sweet mustard - amazing...Rest of our group had other things... that were delicious. Would definitely visit here again.

I usually eat the type of food of the country I am in however, my children had been in there a couple of days earlier and recommended it. It is a well run family business, friendly and outgoing owners/waiters/. Quick service, excellent food, nicely presented. We went 2 days running. Child and dog friendly.

The hotel receptionist at Hotel Schatten sent us to have coffee and cake here in the afternoon. The cakes were beyond belief good--seven layers of fillings kinds of cakes. Lots and lots of choices. The coffee was adequate, and the restaurant area was nice
If you are tired of endless schnitzels, breaded pork or a hearty breakfast at the hotel, come here at least for a normal rational breakfast. Nice breakfast/lunch menu with different kinds of omelets, croissants, fresh-made orange juice, coffee for every taste or choose from endless selection of pastries and cakes. Really, we could not even immediately decide what we should order so many choices were offered on the display. We set outside (was perfect September weather) and enjoyed our pastries and Viennese coffee. Inside cafe is beautiful and modern decorated. Service is brilliant and more than friendly and welcoming. This cafe is one of my warm memory about this town.

We went to this Restaurant to meet a Family member there, and had a coffee and something to eat. The selection is very very limited, not too well tasting, very slow Service, and absolutely NOT recommendable. It is the the ALTERNATIVE CROWD which does accept lousy selection by paying high Prices compared to the value you get. The choice of Food is extremely limited - maybe 3 - 4 in total, the coffee is one that you have to grow accustomed to in order to drink. but the People are friendly. But that is all what is positive there. so not recommendable for the Standard Folks. Any MCDonald is better.Dear Hermann, i am sorry that You found the selection of meals limited in my cafe. Cafe being the operative word. Café Berge is not a restaurant or fast food chain. Besides the daily specials which contains soups and snacks, our menu has various healthy breakfasts which are freshly prepared and enjoyed by the so called alternative crowd. I can only imagine that when you refer to Alternative, that you must mean local guests. I am really sorry that we are not the right place for your needs but sure that there are plenty of other places that cater for your requirements.

While strolling down the streets of Garmisch-Partenkirchen we thought of having lunch in some pure local eatery. Ratscafe was the right choice: Weisswurst with pretzel was exceptional and so was large salad with chanterelles (there was a special menu with dishes made of this type of mushrooms). The waiter was quick and polite.Thank you very much for your great review !It was a pleasure for us to serve you !And we had been proud to present our local chantetelles, because just now is our mushroom saison! Next time please try our porcini - they are delicious !Best regards,Claudia

We planned to visit here based on other reviews, and it definitely exceeded our expectations. The atmosphere is charming, it is a very cozy restaurant. Service was great - we came a bit late and were one of the last to leave - we were welcomed and never felt rushed. Menu selection was awesome - we each tried something different and all were delicious. Tomato soup was awesome. Portions were very large. Would definitely return.
