Bavaria, Germany Food Guide: 7 Grill food Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Garmisch-Partenkirchen

January 18, 2020 Nobuko Falco

Find out what Grill restaurants to try in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. South of Garmisch-Partenkirchen on the Austrian border lies Germany's highest mountain, Zugspitze, rising nearly 10,000 feet and offering gorgeous glacier-top skiing. The towns of Garmisch and Partenkirchen used to be separate, but were merged for the 1936 Winter Olympics. With almost 75 miles of downhill runs of all difficulty levels, Zugspitze also has 68 miles of cross-country trails, a terrain park and Germany's first superpipe. It's super cool to say you were skiing in Garmisch, so be sure to spread the word upon your return.

Looking for amazing food and even better hospitality...this is the spot. Great for a group setting or for a romantic dinner. We stopped in twice and both times were amazing. Fresh seafood and delicious.

A beautiful space and romantic....perfect lighting, modern decor. Competent wine list..discreet and helpful wait staff..the menu is so interesting, especially for Garmisch. I loved this restaurant! Dinner was romantic . I ordered the Zander fillet...I have never had it prepared anywhere as well as here. The Thai soup was aromatic and soooo good....I miss this restaurant, and hope to come back.

While staying in the Hotel Zugspitze we are here several times. The traditional breakfast was consistently good. Dinner menu somewhat limited although is was off-season. Staff very efficient and by German standards friendly. With so many great places to eat within 5-10 minutes walking distance we would not go out of our way to eat here. But the bar in the hotel is great, with live music and lots of locals in attendance on Thursday nights. Christine in the bar is great--friendly and helpful. We would go out of our way to have a drink here

Techmer'S

Cool place with excellent steaks. Enough choices like steaks, burgers, surf and turf and even Black Angus. The Rib Eye steaks was superb and the Frenchfries ‘pommes’ well fried. Side dishes cost a little extra. This steakhouse makes you feel at home not only due to the very friendly service. To improve: Serve home made sauces and dressings instead of (plastic) bottles. Conclusion:Highly recommendable.

It’s worth to eat in this restaurant instead of trying to go to the Garmisch-Partenkirchen city center, unless you are interested in a simply Bavarian kitchen. Weingart’s is a fine dining restaurant with fabulous view on Bavarian Alps. I had here very tasty beef tartar and the only reason why I don’t give maximum rating points is the fact that my rib eye steak, ordered medium rare, was in fact prepared as medium.
